QUOTE(hypermount @ Jan 26 2007, 12:04 PM) bashers contradict themselves Huh? what are u talking? on crack? What you mean by the first paragraph? oxymoron?some wants them to produce the best car in term of performance, the other wants them to produce the car the people want ..this two will not mix well.. as I remember not long ago some bashers scolded Proton for placing importance on profits alone? producing unimaginative models and wants profits only, I think this is what Jeremy clarkson had been against..at least they are not producing the cars to the whim of ignorant populace...they have created cars that are great to drive unlike any other local car manufacturers that only know how to create profits only... Stupid thread like the TS himself...not that this is new. And whats other local car are u talking bout? Perodua? Dude, you sound like you are working for Proton and the comments like that make you sound real pathetic. Proton are making 'profit' no matter how many cars they gonna sell, coz end of the day, the 'rakyat' have to bail them out. |

this is what you get if your're not using chopsticks... LOL
Let the "National Treasure" die of natural causes lah... stuff like MAS and Proton are losing money because of incompetent management. The Gov pumping money in it will not produce any improvement because of the public's perception of the brand... sudah busuk kononnya. |

QUOTE(hypermount @ Jan 26 2007, 12:04 PM) bashers contradict themselves Is any car out there that can satisfied all people? What kind of contradiction are you blithering about? I wanted a perfomance car and perhaps that would catch on. Proton started, and then Perodua taking over this everyday car business so that they can move one step further. If you want to bring Jezza in, he likes superminis. Particularly, the Yaris from Toyota which also owned Perodua but definately not your Savvy. You made it sounds like Proton is actually pleasing us by not making mass-produced cheap cars anymore and others still do. And Proton has actually given us something superior but we don't appreciate it. With Savvy? Give me a break. The fact is, Proton and Perodua are still selling those what you called ''unimaginative models''. Just that both sell craps but your Savvy is crappier than crap judging by the sales volume. If you try to be something bad and still failed, it can't be any worse than this.some wants them to produce the best car in term of performance, the other wants them to produce the car the people want ..this two will not mix well.. as I remember not long ago some bashers scolded Proton for placing importance on profits alone? producing unimaginative models and wants profits only, I think this is what Jeremy clarkson had been against..at least they are not producing the cars to the whim of ignorant populace...they have created cars that are great to drive unlike any other local car manufacturers that only know how to create profits only... QUOTE(hypermount @ Jan 26 2007, 01:54 PM) Other cars might be a different story, as far as Myvi and Savvy are concerned, they're targetting the same market, what tells the truth if it isn't sales volume? You're aiming to sell your product to the same group of people as your competitor and they have sold more, is there any word other than failed? |

QUOTE Nor Mohamed: National pride calls for Proton to have foreign partner By Isabelle Francis Email us your feedback at fd@bizedge.com Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said it is in the national interest for Proton Holdings Bhd to forge a strategic alliance with a foreign partner. "National pride is beyond Proton. National pride is an important factor in making sure Proton survives and prospers. "It's important for the auto industry for Proton to do well. It is not a zero sum game; we are all in it together. It is prosper thy neighbour sort of policy. "It may be useful to get the expertise (of foreign partner) that we need so that there can be a symbiotic relationship to move on to a better level given the changing international environment," he told reporters after launching UMW Holdings Bhd's GaleriKu in Shah Alam on Jan 25. The RM1.5 million UMW GaleriKu is sited on a 4,521 sq ft area at the ground floor of UMW's corporate building and showcases UMW's corporate history since 1917. The items displayed at the gallery include a Toyota Corrolla-KE10, the first Corolla series assembled in 1986 by Assembly Services Sdn Bhd, an oilrig scale model, and insights into car assembly and rig operations. Nor Mohamed also expected the local automotive industry to perform better this year, particularly in the second half, due to better macroeconomic figures, consumer confidence, spillover effects from the stock market and inflow of foreign investments. "We have also held a number of meetings with the banking sector to inform banks that the government is very keen to see the banking system play its part in ensuring there is adequate financing for car buyers. "This confluence of factors would create prosperity and, among other things should lead to a bigger purchase of cars," he said, adding that the national automotive policy was not the factor (that) affected car sales last year. According to Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), car sales drop 11% last year to 490,768 units and this year, it expected car sales to increase by a marginal 1.9%. Based on the same report, the MAA also said national carmaker Proton's number one spot was overtaken by Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd. On a separate matter, UMW managing director Datuk Dr Abdul Halim Harun said the group expected earnings growth across all its core business namely automotive, heavy equipment and oil and gas in the current financial year ending Dec 31, 2007. |
