Hi all,

My motherboard model is ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3. The motherboard has 6 Intel SATA ports. The bios is able to detect my SSD at SATA port 2 and my DVD drive at SATA port 4. However, if I switch my SSD to use other ports (i.e. SATA port 0/1/3), the BIOS will show the SATA ports as "Not Detected".

I have double checked that the SSD is working properly on other PCs. I have tried testing the ports with another working HDD and similar problem happened.

I am wondering if the problem is caused by a faulty motherboard or power supply? How do you check if the power supply is fully working properly?

If it is confirmed that the motherboard is faulty, does anyone know where to get a new LGA1155 motherboard now?

Thank you.

Try update the bios first and see if the problem persist.

Hmm, it was working fine before this. I don't think the problem is caused by bios?

No its not the bios, just poor advise like all the "reinstall windows" type post. And I don't think its the power supply since it should affect all the other ports. Its probably something wrong with the mb.

Did you check your bios that AHCI is set for the Sata port?

Whats your SSD model ,brand no,download the SSD utility from the manufacturer and connect the SSD on a friend's system to see if it is detected during POST,BiOS then the OS. If none of it works the SSD is faulty.

Try connecting it to the gray ones. The gray ones are Sata3 controlled by Marvel chip.

to test it, just take it out and use it on a external enclosure. to ensure that yor ssd is fine.

than try again with different port on yor mb.

I have tested again, the SSD is working if I connect to the other SATA ports on the motherboard. Only SATA port 0 is not working, I assume the fault lies on the mobo instead of the PSU in this case?

Could be Sata 0 bad connection. Try cleaning it or else most likely the port is faulty.
