Wouldn't say it was a scrappy win as we fashioned at least a couple of clear cut chances which would've put us in cruise control, had we taken them. In a way it's a good wake up call before we face spurs. Can't get complacent now,but I agree the international break disrupted us slightly.

QUOTE(Ichighost @ Nov 21 2016, 02:43 PM) a few key areas to improve before the game against spuds at the bridge. That's quite a list man 1- Alonso defensively. 2- Intensity of tracking back and closing down from the top. 3- Hazard position when he was marked heavily. Changing side is the easiest solution but Pedro not that effective as LW. 4- Passing accuracy and thru pass. 5- Reckless clearance to opponents. I'm using Everton game as benchmark so yeah a very demanding requests but I believe that we can do it. Gotta say I agree with all the points though, because that's what it's gonna take to end spurs' unbeaten run in the league. We gave traore a bit too much space to start with vs boro, but after we closed him down much sooner, you could see he was a lot less effective. Overall it could've been a much easier ride if we got that second killer goal, but considering the lads just got back from all corners of the globe,it was a crucial 3 points. Oh and I think we need to mention luiz's positioning which has improved by leaps and bounds. Sometimes it doesn't look like he's tightly marking anybody, but most of boro's crosses would somehow find his head. The geezer was outstanding. We'll be at the bridge to host the spuds and they'll be missing danny rose and toby aldeweireld iinm. This is our chance. |

QUOTE(zoidx_chung @ Nov 24 2016, 04:15 PM) Costa as well?I'm always worried that he's homesick and he misses atletico more than any other team, but at the same timehis professionalism is exemplary. (although his on pitch temperament is a bit dodgy at times I don't know man,if he ends up signing a new deal with the main objective of preserving his skyrocketing value, I'm all for it as well. There's just this feeling of inevitability with him walking through that exit door, but it would be fantastic for diego to fall in love with london and prove me wrong. With regards to courtois, you just never know with all those interviews he keeps giving aye?he's ended up on the wrong side of the fans many times because of this, and if he stays I hope he's learned a thing or two about responding to stupid journos. |

Pedro's best goal in a blue shirt. That was some throwback to his barca glory days and it came at just the right moment. We need to wake up though, closing down in midfield needs to be much better, dembele and wanyama always seem to have ages on the ball. Needed that half to go on for a bit more, spurs were in a daze after we equalised. We can do this, conte needs to rally the boys a bit.

That was a magnificent show of character, we kept our heads even after that early goal. Credit to spurs, they started like a house on fire. I think we didn't utilise luiz's long passing enough today, spurs tried their best to wreck our midfield, but on just two occasions when he managed to pick a pass,(one out to alonso, one into matic's feet) spurs were completely dissected. However,I still love how when we turned the tables on spurs in the second half,, they can't seem to cope with their own high pressing medicine.

These days when you watch moses on the ball, his movement and quick dribbles really remind me of his confidence when he was wigan's star man. The talent and skill were definitely there,it just needed a manager to keep faith in him and bring out the best from his game.
On a side note, our ex manager jose is facing another touchline ban, what is this his third or fourth run in with the FA? and we're not even halfway through the season yet. Can you imagine how toxic the dressing room would be if he was still around, getting the kind of results as utd are right now,and having to deal with all that? It really gives you a different perspective when you're an opposing fan and he's no longer one of us. No disrespect whatsoever to all his achievements with us,but judging by how stubbornly he refuses to change,it seems there never really was a chance of him being our long term manager. I know it's still extremely early days, but conte has made all the right noises with the players, the fans, the board, and above all,the results are beginning to show as well. Hopefully he'll be able to stay long enough to etch his name in our blue history. |
