About a week before its official availability, Samsung Malaysia had issued a statement of a delay due to supply constraints which pushed the launch to September. However, those who have pre-ordered directly or through their authorised partners had received their devices early as promised. Some early customers had complained of bootloop issues with their Galaxy Note7 and apparently this was also reported in Singapore.

We’ve gotten in touch with a rep from Samsung Malaysia and are still waiting for a response.

UPDATE: Samsung will be making an announcement and it is likely a global recall. The announcement will be made at 5:00PM in South Korea (4:00PM Malaysian Time) by Samsung’s head of Mobile Communication Business. Thanks Bibux for the tip!

NPR's Elise Hu tweets that all Note 7s sold to consumers will be replaced and unsold units will also be recalled. (Gizmodo Australia reports that the number sold makes up 1 million of the 2.5 million units produced.)

replace phone or replace battery....i believe replace phone if a faster solution, how many technicians they have to crack open this water proof device with all those glues and glass just to replace a battery..imagine how long the wait has to be..replace phone 1 to 1 will be a better options for both.

for those that say you will never buy a Samsung again, i believe this is just emotions talking.

Would you say you will never buy a car that has had global recalls again? Toyota, Honda, Takata Airbags etc..

Food for thought
*
yea..i dont know why all these individuals wanna react this way...
oh..note 7 is screwed...samsung bye..hello iphone 7..as if samsung only produce note 7?
they can always opt for S7 edge? and there a many other good phones running android right??
so for them is Samsung VS IOS...not Android vs IOS. haha

"iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program. Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices may suddenly experience shorter battery life or need to be charged more frequently. The affected iPhone 5 devices were sold between September 2012 and January 2013 and fall within a limited serial number range.""

lets hope SME wont be doing it this way..

and this is a reminder to the ifans ,in case some the fruit fans laugh at us..haha..
just that ours is in larger scale which shook the market..

Someone called to SME:

"just now i call samsung. they said need to bring to service centre to check 1st whether affected or not. so is it all device affected or only certain batch?"

Typical Malaysian businessmen. Always look for any sort of possible ways to steal from people.
*
that is what im afraid off..they still need to check..i tot its no questions asked?
does it mean those who already exchanged 1 time recently are not from the problem batch?
is it just SME...how they gonna check ? what they going to check...damn it..

ya fk them. SG and other country said 1 to 1 exchange.
now they say check 1st only see how.
then we have to get our spare phone?
what if after days or weeks then they say " no problem, no exchange."

Later the check. No botloop . No overheat while charging. They return to owner. How can check batch . All use same battery. Maybe diffrent factory

exactly ..who know they will really check or do they know what is there to check..Korea side also never say anything about checking or what..this SME wanna save money and risk the consumers..imagine he willing to take the risk..to just change those unit with obvious fault and leave out those problem free ( for the time being) or those who just exchange recently..then who knew..it finally exploded one day and every part of the world got a new batch and only the few malaysia set that exploded will be ignore and forgotten...

when i go to service center i hate the part where the front desk guys..say..i will check with the technician..behind closed doors..who knows what the hell they talked about..then came out..tell u this and that..why cant the technician tell us directly..

Kind of expected. they should have explained everything in the announcement in the first place. But they didn't. Instead of telling you everything, they asked you to call them.

Well, this is the typical way of how Malaysia company is doing their business I guess...... Another case in our beloved bolehland...doh.gif
*
but why do we still have to call them for ? just bring along everything and hand it to them..

QUOTE(CyberKewl @ Sep 2 2016, 08:11 PM)

Should not check, should be 1to1 exchange. Just imagine how long is it going take for SC to check through so many, and chances some might be missed or end up with some other issue when the phone was not put back properly. What happen to water resistant after open up all units to check.  Too many probability if open and check. Just one to one exchange, they can slowly take their time to check returned units.
*
exactly. just get ready the new units..customers come..give u old one..pass us new one..thats it..
dont check or what not..what is there to check? hope it explode in their face while they check..haha

QUOTE(CAC@MBO @ Sep 2 2016, 08:40 PM)
Yes. They just modified their post to 1 to 1 exchange. [attachmentid=7447143]

QUOTE(agentsmythe @ Sep 5 2016, 12:52 PM)
I sent mine in on Aug 31 due to bootloop issues, followed up by a phone call the following day wherein I got a call the same day telling me that I could collect my replacement on 2 Sep (I sounded angry).  Meanwhile, with the news on the battery problems, I repeatedly called them to clarify if I should even come in for a replacement but the service center said there was no official announcement yet.  Come Saturday (3 Sep), I collected my replacement and asked the service center rep but she was no help and was unable to confirm whether my replacement was safe or not.  When I got home, I called the 1800 number and they took down my details, sans IMEI and the rep said the marketing team are in a meeting but would call me shortly.  They must be in one of the longest meetings because I still haven't received a call... meanwhile, like all of you here, I'm in a dilemma - should I spend time migrating / setting up / wasting another SP my new Note 7 or wait? A phone in hand is as good as none...

Get a prepaid use as second phone.. Haha..
