QUOTE(lowya @ Oct 10 2016, 02:15 PM) Update: If you place online in Maybank's GIA account at 1 month 3.6% p.a, then wait till 15 or 16th to see if the 4.1% 12 months GIA is really true or not. That way, you are still earning interest till that date at 3.6% p.a.1. HLB 4% need 2 extra product to be eligible, so it's not pure FD. 2. RHB 12m quota finished 3. end up with Maybank 4mths 3.6%, and expecting better promo in next few months.. also just realized that the FD cert printed by Maybank did not have the word "Fixed Deposit" to clearly state the type of document it prints. Funny how our biggest bank print a receipt that doesn't state clearly what document it is. Look at your Maybank FD cert and you will be shocked. Don't ask me why it took me so long to noticed it. I will report back when the time comes as I am looking for a new promo by the 26 Oct when my last year's GIA account matures. |

GIA has 2 types, one is Campaign (promo), the other is normal.I will report back when the time comes as I am looking for a new promo by the 26 Oct when my last year's GIA account matures. Currently Maybank Conventional 4 months has 3.6%, all else GIA has lower rate. Where do you get the 4.1%? source? Please note: GIA Campaign (remember the one with step up rates?) will not be affected by OPR change during the FD term, whereas GIA normal will be affected by OPR change (means rate after opr drop will adjust downward). This, even the staff don't know, that accounts to some error in the past someone mentioned here before. This post has been edited by lowya: Oct 10 2016, 03:44 PM |

Checked with the RHB manager. Now the RHB PB 200k requirement can be purely FD but need to maintain 10k in SA. Once PB approved, can withdraw out the sum.
OK, may work to get the referral fee among few family members. |

Ok, I have been silently reading here on the changes of the GIA normal monthly rates, it does fluctuate even without the change in OPR.Currently Maybank Conventional 4 months has 3.6%, all else GIA has lower rate. This, even the staff don't know, that accounts to some error in the past someone mentioned here before. At the moment till 15 October, it is 3.6% as shown here: http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...al/ACC-Accounts 4.1% was informed by my RM but he didn't mentioned full details like quota & expiry but fresh funds are not required. That's why I will look for him on the 17 October to confirm this promotion. |

Hope that is clear. |

Not sure if I remembered correctly or not but there may have been some forumers who said they got less than the stated monthly rate during the OPR change.lets say last year you placed GIA (Campaign Promo) for 12 months at 4.5% rate, you should still be getting 4.5% nett p.a. this year during maturity, even though the OPR was reduced drastically recently. the same does NOT apply to GIA (normal aka non-promo). Hope that is clear. For my promo GIA last year, I think I am still getting the same promo rate, but didn't calculate recently though. |
