Not only Taiwan and Malaysia, our neighbor Singapore is also having the same reboot/hanging issue. It's global now. https://www.facebook.com/SamsungMobileSingapore/Because of this, I decided to hold on buying Note 7 and wait until Samsung sort out the issue. So back to my Note 5 and wait and see........

QUOTE(ramen241 @ Aug 22 2016, 09:38 AM) For those with SPen issue, this seems to be a good workaround: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZidO2CN_VtYSomehow I feel a bit sad to see that one needs to bear with this kind of problem after spending so much on an expensive gadget. I have not yet buy the Note 7, but I can feel the pain of seeing this scene.

QUOTE(desmondk @ Aug 22 2016, 11:38 AM) Haha... it just happened to me like three times... guess I'll observe it for one or two days more... If I'll were to report to SC, in order to 1 to 1 exchange,do I need to surrender my phone to them until the new stock arrive? Of course you should surrender the phone to them. Even if they do not tell you to do so, you should insist to give them. Make the agreement with them, word by word, on pen and paper. If you keep the phone, you will never know what will happen in 1-2 weeks while you are waiting for replacement. If you accidentally damage/spoil your phone before the new stock arrive, they may blame you for the root of cause of the whole deal. At the end you may lose out the chance of 1 to 1 exchange. Better don't give them excuse to do that. This post has been edited by Max2006: Aug 22 2016, 12:30 PM

QUOTE(JonnY @ Aug 22 2016, 11:51 AM) My S-Pen also a bit lose for the top part. I thought it is normal cause my wife's note 5 S-Pen also like that. Anyone can advise as this is my 1st Note also. A bit of lose is better than stuck inside. If you can accept your wife's note 5 S-Pen, I don't see why you should worry about it. Just my 2 cents.

QUOTE(mydragoon @ Aug 22 2016, 12:38 PM) some "grouses" about the new Touchwiz: * no volume control when pressing the power button. only off/ reboot? hmmm... * no infinite scrolling -- such a pain when you have a few screens and you're at one end and need to go to the other end. why can't they put a switch to enable this? * still trying to get used to the stuff they chucked into SETTINGS. need to take a while to look for things. luckily the search function is good. * no torch/ flashlight widget. need to use notification. such a pain... well, i come from Note 2, which had most of the stuff i mentioned above. i guess just need to get used to it. Sounds like the new UI is worse than the old UI?

QUOTE(kcimo @ Aug 23 2016, 01:31 PM) Thanks! The thread had gone way too far and can't get all the details right. Ya. The issue is becoming more and more serious now. People have tried various methods and possible solutions. At the end, we came to a conclusion that most likely the first batch is having hardware malfunction. So far, Samsung SC already promised that the victims will get their replacement in 1 - 2 weeks. What you should do now is to go to your nearest SC and show them the problem on spot (if possible), or just convince them that your phone has issue. By now, I think they will approve your request in no time since the news has been spreaded out now.

QUOTE(SPuNx @ Aug 23 2016, 02:50 PM) Is coral blue going to be released in Malaysia? I'd rather wait for that one and hope it's not a lemon. The vice president of Samsung Malaysia did say that the coral blue version will be released in 2nd phase, which most people interpret it as the time point before end of year.

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Aug 26 2016, 12:01 PM) exploding batteries is fake I guess.. phone is china imitation Unfortunately, nope. It's the real thing. I found out that judging a case simply based on personal assumption or other people's view is not good enough. So I went ahead and did my research on my own. Read the original source (if you can read mandarin or korean). Korean original source http://m.ppomppu.co.kr/new/bbs_view.php?id=phone&no=3225308Chinese source http://technews.tw/2016/08/25/samsung-note...orea-explosion/Apparently, the phone was in Korea, bought by a Korean. Confirmed is Note 7. According to the victim, the phone was exploded during charging, using microUSB to USB Type-C cable with original charger. The phone already sent to Korea SC. Initial analysis was the root cause is the battery malfunction. Still not yet confirmed whether its factory malfunction or human error. Anyway, this would be the first explosion case for Note 7. The news was spreaded through most of the local newspapers in Korea. I repeat, the exploded phone indeed is Note 7 (Korean version). And yes. Korean version Samsung phones do not have Samsung logo on it. This post has been edited by Max2006: Aug 26 2016, 01:30 PM

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Aug 26 2016, 12:40 PM) OMG. It real deal huh and its exploded in Korea, the home country of Samsung sengkin95 boss can this put on 1st page.. Ya. I was shocked when i read the news. However, there's s suspicious point in the case. Based on those pics, the user was using microUSB to USB Type-C cable to charge his phone. Now that's interesting. I am not an expert. But may be this is the starting point where all things go wrong. Anyway, the phone sure was exploded. And we still don't know what's the real cause. But for sure, from now on, I won't dare to try to use microUSB to USB Type-C cable to charge my phone. Better be safe rather than sorry. QUOTE(nexona88 @ Aug 26 2016, 12:55 PM) I think it's the battery issue Most likely yes. But human instinct is like this. You must do all the precaution in order to rule out all the possibilities. As cantonese always say: 有殺錯冇放過! This post has been edited by Max2006: Aug 26 2016, 01:20 PM

QUOTE(WhatMan @ Aug 26 2016, 11:49 AM) Longer Samsung delay the launch, the more I question buying Note 7. Easy glass scratch, phone hangs, exploding batteries, really killing my mood. Feel the same here. Note 7 indeed is a gorgeous phone. No doubt about that. But we have to admit, since the day it launched, all those negative reviews are keep coming in. May be it's time for Samsung to check their fengshui? (Just joking).

QUOTE(mydragoon @ Aug 26 2016, 01:33 PM) so... wanna hear less bad news... go buy those low key brands. that's one good way not to see bad news headlines about the brand. Of course I know la. It's just that when you spend so much to buy something, you would feel the pain when you keep hearing those bad news. It's all about human emotion and we can't help on it la.

If SC started to reject those 1 to 1 replacement in these few days, that could mean that they might already found the culprit and they know which part to replace. If this is the case, bad news for the people who bought a faulty unit and wishing for a new replacement. But good news for the future buyers.

QUOTE(brandon8921 @ Aug 26 2016, 04:10 PM) Can someone list out the defects of Note 7? Just want to make sure my unit is okay. I'm using just 1 week so far no major issue (touch wood) 1. Random hang/freeze 2. Random reboot 3. Autostart looping 4. Excessive heat eventhough no heavy use 5. S pen stucked inside the phone
