if you want something that is capable of displaying hd quality content from your xbox360 with that budget you might want to consider a widescreen lcd monitor instead... a 19" lcd monitor and vga cable is well under rm 1k

can't blame them..since astro is still in analog signals. well for myself i have a 27 inch samsung s series for my room. it's nice enough for gaming and movie watching, although the speakers are crap (the S-series, others i dunno). i'm using my pc speakers. if u wanna go for 40 inch, i'd recommend the R series or M series. thumbup.gif

aegis: holy crap, u got a hd-dvd player from senq?? damn lucky! all i got b4 was offers for normal dvd player. but eh...how much is an hd-dvd movie again? sweat.gif

Are you sure it's an HD-DVD player, or an upscaling DVD player or an HDD-DVD recorder? If it's an HD-DVD player, im buying for the sake of that alone!

I looked at Samsung's website, they dont have HD-DVD player for production. They do have HiDef DVD player, which is what they call their upscaling DVD player, which i also have., the HD8xx series. Samsung makes Bluray players, and no Hd-DVD players yet.

I doubt they gonna give free HD-DVD players worth over RM2000 for free for buying something worth RM7000+?

Which SenQ is this? Im free, so i can either check it out now, or give them a call. Mind telling me? Im taking this with a grain of salt, coz even home theatre enthusiast stores like Mediaplex and other retailers had not even received their HD-DVD players.

Turns out to be too good to be true. No retail store in the right mind would give something of that value against something bought that relatively cheap. If you buy one of those Sharp Aquos 65 inch panels, they may give you an HD-DVD player free.

Is WS absolutely necessary? Also, by "cropped" do you mean that the image is cot off or is it that there are those annoying horizontal black bars?

For Xbox360, widescreen is a must!

Just recently upgraded from my 17" LCD to a 32" Samsung S7, and..

oooooooohhhhhhhhh........

also hooked up the sounds via optical to a decoder to produce Dolby Digital 5.1 to my Z5300 wub.gif

any of u using Aquos, Sony S series or Toshiba Regza for ur 360? how is it? it seems like most of the people here are using samsung R7 or S7 after reading the HDTV thread....i'll be using it mostly for 360 if i hv free time...

also how about its performance if connect to PC? For any of u using either sharp, sony or toshiba can PM me arr how's ur experience using them with 360...dont want to get out of topic for this thread...

(i'm using philips....will be fair on this matter..)

try to compare also wit philips.......
if u compare side by side, some of the philips are way better than sony (with that price range).....and the picture quality are almost identical wit sharp......

..if u hv kids, and always touching2 the screen...........try and knock the screen (using ur hand la..)..and c wat happen...............the philips have better protective screen...

since u said between 5-6 k.....,i assume u wanna find 32 inc..is it?...u cud buy a 42 inc..but i think its from LG.....

...if u wanna sleek lcd,i think better go for bravia.....

...plse dun bombarded me bcoz of my comments....hehehe

but u can never go wrong wit the big guns..

if u wanna check for philips, make sure it has at least Pixel Plus.....if not, dont even bother buying it.......if im not mistaken, philips also have 1 model that has pixel plus 37inc...but then again...its rm5999..........

....i think u just stick within ur budget...go for the 32inc....and buy extended warranty for it...if possible, find a shop that offer free wit it....

720p is also HD which can be transfered using component cable. I'm using component cable for my 360 on the Samsung R7.

not that expensive..bought it from one of the bulk purchase here, the original price is similar like Sony Bravia X, but the price quoted in this forum is much cheaper since all of the transaction is in cash,..about the custom..not worry too much about it.. the external hd-dvd is exempted from any tax as the seller declare it as the external dvd for pc, and the oppo upscaler player is declared about 40% of the original price by the seller...so the tax for it is quiet reasonable... whistling.gif

ooo...i know him. he PMed me th other day. but the warranty is only 1 year right? thinking of getting more than 1 year. at least 3 years or two years. i'm still doing some research before buying. aiming at the 37" tv. 42" too expensive. need to spare some cash for other things....such as a newly born baby. but that another 7 months to go. heheh

Got it from Ebay sometime ago for around RM250 together with shipping if IIRC. If your display is below 50" I don't think you'll see any improvements by using the Monster cables.

dude i donot mind letting you come over and having a look...

the best thing that you can do to get a better picture is to calibrate your tv properly.... take the time, run a calibration dvd... you'll see the difference
