Hi,

Been using Dell Vostro 5470 for few years now. The laptop broke at the hinge section and too costly to repair.
The lastest version is Vostro 14 5000 series cheapest with the below spec:
- Dell Vostro 14 V5459-1045SG-DOS Laptop/ Notebook
- Intel® Core™ i3-6100U-2.3GHz
- 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB SATA HDD
- Intel® HD Graphics 520
- NO Windows
- RM1899

The above configuration no longer available at Dell Malaysia web site. Cheapest now is i5 version with window and NVIDIA graphic costing RM2699.

Therefore, to expand my option further, I would like to know any similar laptop from other brands such as Acer, ASUS, Lenovo, etc.
Main criteria would be lightweight (less than 1.7kg). Screen size 14" or 13.3".

Using mainly for work (excel, word, powerpoint), portable to bring around especially into meeting room.

Thank you for the suggestion.

For this type budget will be most of the specification will be.

Processer - I5-6200U or M3-6Y30 (For ultra thin and lightweight one)

Ram- 4GB or 8GB

Display either 14' or 15.6'

Harddisc either will be 500GB, 1TB or harddisc with ssd

GPU either NV 940M / NV 940MX / nv 930M or nv 930MX or on board graphic.

Must get window 10 version d laptop.

Another things to consider as many laptop within this price range will be 2 USB port and another will be usb type C or 3 USB port and one type C port.
If u need more usb port then either buy a type c to usb hub or buying a laptop with 3 to 4 standard usb.

Most of the laptop in this price range will be light weight, not so heavy one.

Intel m3-6Y30 is on par with I5-6200U?

Because Asus ZENBOOK UX305CA is using that. A little bit beyond the budget tho.
I dont mind the USB port actually.

Intel m3-6Y30 mostly is use on ultra book instead of laptop.
So it is used in lightweight and thinner ultra book but will sacrifice some performance hence a bit lag if u multitask but the main advantage is the M3 processor more battery friendly hence longer battery life.
Mostly ultra book will be using ssd..
But mainly is you can bring around easily because is smaller and using a 13.3' screen.

I5-6200 sure will be faster/

The above 4 look like good options...

This is the cheapest with an SSD and has been given good reviews:

i'm using ASUS UX305UA which uses i5 6200 cpu.
But the price exceeds your budget though: RM3,999.

Acer S 13 is rm3,200 with similar specs though, if you don't mind bumping up your budget.

RM2.5k and below normally can get those m3 CPUs such as ASUS UX305CA series.
