Previous thread : HERE

After I keep on pursuing my husband regarding this matter, he said I should wait until Nov/Dec 2016.
Ok, that part I understood because I know he's hoping to get better items for me with the budget he has now.
My problem now is I'm not sure which item or brand would fulfill the needs of my personal requirement.

Personal requirement of getting this rig:
1. Photoshop
2. Illustrator
3. Premiere
4. Web-design
5. RX5 Audio Editor
6. After Effects
7. Lightworks
8. Games in Full HD (no lag, high fps - this matter is the most important haha)
9. Banking Software
10. Enable to withstand multitasking programs
11. Enable to store everything, I dislike to use external. (maybe need 2 units of 4TB)
12. Solidworks
13. AutoCAD

How I want it to be:
1. Desktop tower / case must be around 40cm-45cm length, 40cm-45cm height and 20cm-25cm width
2. To have a good air ventilation so that less hot air hovering inside the rig. A lot of silent fan?
3. Light weight rig, easy to move around but yet powerful enough handle my persona requirement
4. No annoying fan noise sound from gpu fan, tower fan or other fan. The lesser the better.
5. Planning to include a sinlge 10-series GPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM (16GB x 4, with extra RAM slot for future add-on)
6. Hoping to use it for at least up to 5 years minimum. Maybe add another GPU for SLI or upgrade future model.

Few noob questions:
1. Is 2.5" HDD cooler than 3.5" HDD?
2. Is fancy ram with colorful light will add more heat to the rig?
3. I have Samsung 950 Pro PCIe NVMe, do i need any pcie bracket for desktop mobo or just plug'n'play?
4. My decision to avoid SSHD and get normal HDD for storage purpose is the right choice?

My budget:
RM6k RM7k max. Fyi, I'm going to buy everything at the same time around end of NOV 2016 / early of DEC 2016.
The part doesn't have to be brand new, I don't mind used / demo item too as long as its perfectly working with valid + active warranty.

What do I need to buy?
Blue color = Already have, Red color = Need advice
Please advice me with specific brand/model/estimated price/new-used-demo

Item / Brand-Model / Price / New-Used-Demo
OS: Genuine Windows 10 Pro 64bit
PROC :
MOBO :
RAM :
HDD :

SSD : 2 units x 512GB Samsung 950 PRO PCIe NVMe (RAID-0)
GPU :

er i think you're aiming for x99/2011-v3 setup, not z170 or anything mainstream: if you wanna have 4x16gb as base and still have ram slots for future upgrades, then you have to go for 2011-v3 instead of z170 (8x vs. 4x ram slots); sli takes up pcie lanes, so does pcie ssd raid0. i think with z170 you can most probably do either one, not both.

i think for 7k you can still get things started (get the basics first), then progressively add more stuff in whenever you're ready. you don't really need to get everything in one shot, do you?

1. yes it should be cooler because it use less power. if inside a mITX case with some airflow, it will be much cooler compared to these inside a laptop. but keep in mind 2.5" HDD have slower 5400 RPM and lower cache, but it should be fine for storage use. there's also the HGST Travelstar with 1TB 7200RPM 32MB Cache.

2. strange i never thought of that haha, but i dont think it is too much heat to be worried about. so many components adding LED in rigs these days, RAM/mobo/GPU laugh.gif

3. yea for motherboard that support two M.2 slots for your two 950 Pro.

4. yea SSD is always better for performance compared to SSHD. and normal HDD is cheaper than SSHD.

Yup, I agree too. From the type of work listed, you will need more cores and more threads. Hubby wanting you to wait til end of the year now becomes rather irrelevant since Kabylake is going to be mainstream when it comes out then. An I7 6800K ( 6C/12T) is what you should be considering.

EDIT : Any reason why you are opting for Windows Pro instead of Home edition?

Yea planning to wait since until December i guess. Not in a rush but current system quite slow for me, the cursor always showing "sand clock / hourglass" everytime i press apply. Ohhh, about OS hubby said no need to buy any OS coz he got few units unused Windows 10 Pro in hand so I can use it thumbup.gif

don't mention it. you still need experienced gurus here to give you more insights of such builds. (especially components used in order to make sure you really get what you want).

also, please take my comments with a grain of salt. there are already some x99 mobo refresh announced by major brands, so it's better to read their specs and reviews first. for now i like asrock x99 taichi. if you want something more fancy, just check out other options.

Since you do photoshop/after effects etc. Ever consider to get ips panel monitor? Eg: Dell Ultrasharp series
If you out of budget, can consider to buy component one by one; by the turns arrive; for sure have some extra money to spend
First buy: Casing, PSU, Fans; Coolers, ODD
Second buy: RAM, HDD
Third buy : CPU, GPU, MOBO - these component only buy when you ready to setup pc

It has been announced, new Intel Kaby Lake desktop SKUs will become available in January 2017.

If you do not intend to OC, do consider getting the i7-6700, 4C/8T since you are doing graphics/rendering. While it will save you ~RM150, do note that the i7-6700K has better resale value in the future.
PSU of 1000W will be an overkill. With no OC nor SLI, 650-750W would suffice. I tend to like SuperFlower, good quality, reasonable pricing. 650W Silver less than RM400 while a 750W Gold is under RM550.
Case fans- I have a preference for Noctua. Though they cost more, they provide excellent airflow and quietest performance.
CPU cooler- since no OC, maintaining the stock HSF that comes with the CPU would suffice. Otherwise, you have a lot of options for coolers but no need to break the bank. Get those under RM200 would be more than sufficient.
Casing- Given your choice of mobo, you will need one that can support ATX. Recommend NZXT S340 or Corsair S400

Don't get a Z170 board if you don't plan to OC. H110, B150 or H170 should be enough. Get to save a bit of money there as well. If you really want to get the Z170 board I'll suggest you get an unlocked processor just in case you wanna squeeze out more performance. Doing a small overclock on the CPU is really easy TBH.

CPU and GPUs now are very power efficient. Usually at maximum CPU and GPU load also only draw 400~500W from the wall. Personally I'll get a 750W PSU since a good PSU can last for several upgrade cycles and 750W will enable you to have multiple GPU in the future, but a 600W is still more than enough if you don't plan to SLI/Crossfire.

As for the cooler, Coolermaster Hyper 212 master race (for non-heavy users).

cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif Hubby advised me to wait for Intel Kaby Lake.

He read about "Intel® Core™ i7-7500U processor, PL1=15W TDP, 2C4T, turbo up to 3.5 GHz" ~ Intel® Core™ i7-7500U Specification and decided to wait for Desktop Edition to be released.

Since you say you're going to one lump all the equipments on end of nov/early december, it's worthy to wait for kaby lake. And I don't think atm you can find so many used components...considering asus strix gtx1070 was released only around 3 months ago...

>You don't want to oc, don't pick z170 and x99 mobo
>Slim/thin and not so bulky case, that it depends if YOUR components could actually fit into your case, but I would recommend mid tower case
>Built-in casing fan.
>No need to get a used dvdrw, a new dvdrw costs around 60-70 bucks only

EDIT: >No, you don't need 1000W PSU. 600+W PSU is more than enough.

uh? why sad? it's not bad actually (good base clock; power efficient; and with 200-series chipset, you also get supports for optane technology)
