For those who are interested in the Onyx, you can take a look at thermals here:

https://m.zol.com.cn/article/6848390.html

Thermals are excellent for a thin gaming laptop. In Aida 64+Furmark heavy load, CPU sitting at ~80℃ while GPU sitting at ~70℃. Only minimal throttling, surface temps are in control as well. Should be able to fit a full 1070.

Also the GS series has never really been "solid" IMHO, all of them are unfortunately flexy in one part or another

Agreed.

but of course there's room for UV improvement

Undervolt both CPU and GPU and show us the results? Also, is the fan noise bearable?

I never saw the proc go Turbo either lol.

This is normal for 8750H. 45W can't have max all core turbo unless undervolting and PL1 limit increase are applied. Also can be EC firmware

8750H runs really hot (much hotter than 7700HQ), not many models can handle it.

Anyway, the idle temps seem a bit high. You MUST do undervolting for CFL-H laptops. Can do a repaste if you want

I'm guessing it's a 17 inch version of the onyx.

TongFang doesn't have such model from what I know. Unless it's not a TongFang

Raven Elite, slightly better cooling (despite no 1070 option like Laguna) and slightly lighter

hello illegear team,

Any new laptops launching for this coming months of year 2019? Since the new nvidia graphics card already announced in CES 2019, I expecting something “surprise” from illegear
*
TongFang GK5 (Onyx) and GK7 (Selenite) with RTX GPU already spotted in CES. So be patient

1. Illegear selenite, will it throttle under long hour, graphic and cpu intense gaming?
2. How does it compare to Asus Strix Scar 2 GL704 which comparable in terms of pricing?
1. It has good cooling, can handle 2070
2. GL704 don't cool GPU well, even the 1060/2060 model

I wanted to pick Illegar , but then ended up going for Thinkpad - needed something to last long and being durable + international warranty smile.gif
Perosnally I would ecommend illegar...well , tons of options to customize

I using cooler pad but without turning it on the fan most of the time i just want to lift up the laptop so the bottom have more room for airflow the chassis fan is good enough to cool the laptop, but only when I gaming or exporting video after editing (cpu run 100% all the core), the other time i just put it aside.

I got the idea from Asus Zephyrus like below.

user posted image

I found the one can fit the size of Selenite which is Cooler Master L1.

Cooler pad is useless unless you spend RM100+

Just use a hard enough yet thin object like notepad to raise up the back, easy yet free method
