first of all... i just found out this morning that Raven ELITE isn't just a higher spec-ed Raven. it seems to have physical differences like:
* Black-Anodized Aluminum Body with Front Programmable RGB LED Bar (regular Raven is plastic)
* Five-heatpipe & Quad-vent (regular Raven got only two of these)
* Port differences <-- still yet to find out how many of each vs regular Raven

so, my first comment is... Illegear should really separate them and not mention them in one breath. dun think there's even a separare video for the ELITE. tagging Prince J AZIM@ILLEGEAR wink.gif

having said that...

anyone got any idea about the Raven Elite? I get the feeling it's like Onyx but with thicker bezels. curious to know what kinda chasis is used, and any known issues (heat, etc)...

or anyone already own one? smile.gif

Hi mydragoon, for the Coffeelake editions of Raven, we have decided to split them into two categories; normal Raven for GTX 1050 & GTX 1050Ti & Raven Elite for higher end GPUs. The Raven Elite is much more suitable to run resource-intensive programs for an extended period of time because of the better build quality (Anodized aluminum on Raven Elite vs solid plastic with textured finish on Raven) as well as the better thermal management system equipped for the laptop, hope this clarifies.

Hello all,

I have a question regarding the no dead pixel warranty.

If say after the 180 days, a dead pixel pops up, what can i do about it? Since the 180 days period that the warranty cover is over, do I have to pay to get the panel replaced?

Is it absolutely necessary to get the dead pixel warranty?

Hi zeronuker, for the dead pixel warranty, you will be eligible for a screen replacement even if there is a single dead pixel present on the screen. However if the laptop was purchased without the dead pixel warranty, you would still be qualified for a screen replacement if the laptop has at least 3 dead/dim/lit pixels present on the display, hope this clarifies smile.gif

Thanks for the clarification. thumbsup.gif

All this applies even after the 180 days right?

Yes of course smile.gif Free screen replacement would be possible for this issue as long as the device is still covered under warranty~

I am really interested to buy an Illegear laptop because of how customizable it is. The Onyx looks really nice but I will probably go with the Raven as it's much cheaper and is just slightly heavier and still manageable.

However, I am going to study overseas at Hong Kong and will bring the laptop with me. And since Illegear is a Malaysian brand, does that mean I will get totally no support when I'm overseas? If it's some minor issues I would probably be able to solve it myself, after all I worked at an IT store, but if it's some major issues which requires replacements of parts, such as screen, keyboard, battery, adapter, will it be possible to find those parts overseas? Hopefully there will not be any major issues.

I'm also considering the Asus FX504, which is actually cheaper with the same specs minus some features, and should have support internationally. I've heard that Asus support is terrible, but terrible support should be better than no support right?

Any opinion or advice on this?

Hi Freedom15, Laguna is much better in comparison in terms of the thermal management (equipped with quad-heatpipe, triple-vents and dual-fan cooling) and the fans run a lot quieter when compared to the S5X under maximum load.

Hi Benedict416, for our laptops, the RAM, HDD, SSD, SSHD, wireless card as well as the warranty duration can be upgraded in the future after laptop purchase is made smile.gif Kindly note that opening the back panel of the laptop to upgrade/service/replace the components inside will not void the warranty of the laptop. However to claim the warranty (mostly for parts replacement) customers would have to send in the laptop physically/by courier to our HQ for servicing/warranty claiming events.

Hi chunjie97, the Raven Elite is based on another ODM from top-tier overseas manufacturer (not Clevo/Sager based). Regarding the battery runtime, both Onyx & Raven Elite can last for approximately around 2.5-4 hours under normal surfing, but it differs between users since it would depend on the screen brightness level, network utilization as well as the amount of background applications running. Cooling-wise, the fans of the Raven Elite run a lot quieter when compared to the Onyx under maximum load. However, both models do not actually experience from overheating issues when running with maximum load, hope this helps smile.gif

Hi guys, so I've been wondering about the laptops for a while now. Would you suggest getting one now or waiting a while more for newer versions to come out? I'd probably start class in October but the anticipation of getting a newer laptop is hard to handle..

Was considering the models below RM5000.

Hi Jelly,

Only reason to hold the purchase now is to wait for Nvidia Volta gpu but it has been confirmed to delay until next year.

For 5K budget, you may consider RAVEN https://www.illegear.com/laptops/raven/

Hi Anonymous_98.. Our overseas manufacturer has informed us that they have shipped our container for the new LAGUNA Coffeelake stocks to us through air shipment. Therefore, accordingly should arrive at our warehouse facility on ETA 10-16 June tentatively. Thankyou for your patience and bare with us smile.gif
