Isteri Chan Peng Soon yakin gandingan beregu campuran badminton negara akan mempamerkan aksi terbaik di pentas akhir untuk menyumbang pingat emas pertama Malaysia di Sukan Olimpik Rio 2016.

Gandingan harapan negara, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying akan bertemu beregu dari Indonesia, Tontowi Ahmad dan Liliyana Natsir, hari ini.


Cham May May menyifatkan perlawanan menentang pasangan dari China di peringkat separuh akhir adalah antara peristiwa mendebarkan dalam hidupnya. Peng Soon-Liu Ying menang ke atas beregu China, Xu Chen-Ma Jin, 21-12, 21-19 untuk mencatat sejarah sebagai beregu campuran pertama Malaysia beraksi di pentas akhir Olimpik.

"Saya bangga dengan kejayaan suami dan pasangan regunya, Liu Ying, yang berjaya mara ke perlawanan akhir sekali gus memberi harapan untuk membawa pulang pingat emas pertama untuk Malaysia," katanya ketika dihubungi.

Mengulas lanjut, May May berkata, sudah lama Peng Soon memasang impian untuk memburu pingat emas dalam Sukan Olimpik dan kini harapan itu semakin hampir.

"Saya tidak sabar menyaksikan perlawanan akhir (malam ini) dan akan memberi sokongan 100 peratus kepada suami walaupun tidak berpeluang untuk menemaninya di Rio," katanya.
