Was just at Desa Park city. There is a Mini car exhibition sort of . Took a look at both. If I would choose. Clubman wins in terms of practicality. It is also easier on the eye. Countryman is just NOT cute.

Hi There,

Thanks for your feedback! I'm now considering between the mini cooper and countryman, due to clubman is a bit longish for me. Would appreciate if any current mini owners out there would be able to let me know how's the car performance in terms of smooth operations, less breakdowns, or less visit to the workshops. Just read a thread about the high probability of break down in many aspects of the car. Hopefully that after paying for high price for the car, it would be able to serves me well and less problems as my previous car, many thanks for your feedback again!

I drive 2014 countryman.
Reliable- after 40k km in 2 years, no major problem just service when the car shows signal. Only problem is during long and heavy rain, there will be a signal showing my window is not closed. Claimed for warranty, change the power window motor 2 times, still the same. I dont bother anymore, let it be.

If you can afford, and you like Mini style, just go for it.
Otherwise there are tons of different car more worth the money.

Btw, have you test ride it? With run flat, the suspension is tough, and the tyre noise is loud. But after I changed to normal tyre, it is better now.

Hi there, considering new unit, probably the mini cooper or the countryman. I'm just looking for a car that has less breakfdowns/problems. Understand that sometimes there is some minor problems which is acceptable.

Hi There! Woww..glad to hear your reply!
Yes, did test drive the countryman 1.6L and mini cooper, both low specs. Countryman does feel very bumpy especially at the back and the power is much less, of course i'm comparing it with mini cooper which has twin turbo, but then also looking at the price, it's not much difference. Both car will be able to suits me well.
I do like the Mini style but just thought of looking for more feedback.
Many thanks for your helpful reply! Cheers!

yes, the countryman is non-turbo and feels underpowered but I did not test the S yet.
Cooper is twin turbo, so it's much better in power, also did not test the Cooper S yet too.

HI all,

Interested getting a Recon Mini Cooper S R56 or F56. But somehow I read in the internet, mostly US region owner comment Mini reliability really sucks. First 1~2 years ok...then nightmare comes.

Some issue unable to fix till the car have to in workshop for few weeks. Some even said is the most regret decision for buying a Mini. Sold the Mini in great loss just to get rid of it.

Any owner here especially Recon Cooper S R56 / F56 can input how the reliability after owning for few years? I looking for for 2012/2013 R56 or 2014 F56 batch.

Japan spec and UK spec any different? Somehow Japan spec is much more cheaper. Is it 180km/h limited like those JDM car?

read most of them doesn't really take care. Pump the cheapest fuel which is 87 caused a lot of built up in the throttle
