So please do comment on my shots and I shall learn from that and hope to excel in one day...so please all sifus...it's my pleasure

judging from your photos, except for the first one, your shutter speed must be about 1/100 and below. And that your hands has not gotten used to the weight of the camera.
Also, need to work on metering, and WB, and composition as well.
don't worry too much about what others say, just follow your instinct on taking photos. You do not become an artist by imitation. Create your own style and build up on it.

Thanks for your comment....and yes....it were all the first few test shots right after the camera purchased...hence still finding difficulties on handling it sweat.gif ....the w/b is one of my identified enemy in photography blush.gif ...but will practise more...FYI, the last pic was taken using 28mm at f2.8 with the shutter speed 1/320 rolleyes.gif

i not sure bout Sony, but u think there is an option to turn on the electronic guide line on ur VF right? turn it on and use it to judge 'straitness' of your compo, if your lens doesnot distort a lot, it will be pretty much handy in times such as shooting the tower.

SWEET you have a beercan! How much did you pay for it? How come you have a Minolta 28mm F2.8 you're new to this (assuming you had a film Minolta, you'd have your composition practice.)

There are no electronic guide lines, but notice the diagonal corner lines:

CODE

 o

\       /

Those are lined up to divide the picture in thirds exactly. You can select those AF points by pressing on the keypad diagonally.

Long time didn't touch on slr edy...need more practice to pick up any skills that I long forgotten.... sweat.gif And yeah the beercan is great....it's sharp...i got it in a bundle from a friend of mine....3 lens + 3 UV filters = RM1400 laugh.gif and that's the reason why i got the sony a mount so fast. rclxm9.gif

Thanks for your sharing info as well....will practice more and post more for judging!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Two solid colored manila cardboards would do. I have one that is orange and another which is blue. Both have white on the other side, so you get 3 colors.

You can get away with the built-in flash of the Sony A100, when taken in default landscape orientation, which little shadows.

Alternatively, you could take it out to the garden and zoom in at 210mm F4. biggrin.gif

Hi, i have yet to buy my own DSLR camera, but i did do a lot of paints in the past. So i dare not to comment on your photographs. But i think what you're doing is really good. I meant that your photos show that you're experimenting some shoots. I do think that the one where u focus on Gundam's head is the best one. Keep up the good work.. while i try to save more money on my first DSLR camera smile.gif Hehehe sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

So I guess you love arts (since you do lots of paints which average people won't like to touch it). wink.gif If it's true in this case, you should be able to comment on photos taken by anyone here because to me, it's straight...photography is a piece of art too.. icon_rolleyes.gif

kenzio: Are you using an LCD monitor? Most of the Gundams look underexposed on my CRT (calibrated using the nVidia control panel.) Do adjust the levels so that the Gundam has more near-whites.

Cool background for the garden shot!

kenzio: Are you using an LCD monitor? Most of the Gundams look underexposed on my CRT (calibrated using the nVidia control panel.) Do adjust the levels so that the Gundam has more near-whites.

Cool background for the garden shot!

kenzio, try to use fill-in flash or change your metering to centre weighted or spot , might help with the under-exposure issues.

seriously the background a bit dull..try to put at least black cardboard or something next time before shoot.

and for those gundam..it is better to do the lining even if you are lazy. it make your gundam looks much more better..and somemore yours one is PG wo..

i can only imagine how spectacular 2# will be if the lily was in sharp focus. good composition and lighting, just a shame that the main subject was a bit blurred. maybe you should crop the top off a bit more though, the blurred flower at the top right hand corner is a tad distracting lor...

3) The Twins is great. Love it. The centre of both flowers are bright (and that is where your focus is on right?). Not so for 4) though, the centre of the flower is in shadows. I think I have to spend some more time in my local temple here in KK to see if I can capture some shots like this.

Long time didn't hav anything to post.....and after the long time...i have give it a try to shoot models on the stage during the MidValley Fashion in Motion...I find it quite difficult to hold on to the correct feel and settings when shooting something live. Hope to get some tips from fellow photogs to improve...

Yo bro, glad to know you are active again. But, where r the models? I thought fashion show sure must have models mah....

I was in China for one week last week. Unfortunately my cybershot t9 was lost in a taxi when in Nanning. Haiyah.... so sad.... Lost the camera as well as 200+ photos taken during the trip. Argh...!!!! Well, at least I didn't bring my A100 along. If lost A100, I think I wanna jump off a cliff already!

Some of the shots are slightly out of focus. Remember to get the focus critical on the eyes; that alone makes the shot seem in focus.

Sharp memang not sharp....coz still not getting use to shoot stage show or moving objects especially in indoors.... sweat.gif the noise is due to high ISO used (800) cause that time flash battery out and haven't got it replaced... sweat.gif paiseh paiseh...am still learning...need more guide from sifus.... notworthy.gif

I tried to...but i guess it's due to my un-steady hand...(practise...practise....and practise bruce.gif ) and lack of experience in using the correct settings for the lighting environment..

The pictures just still seem not sharp and OOF. Even at F9 for picture 3, the Henessy bottle is still OOF. Is there something wrong with the lens or is your A100 has focusing problem or your hands still not steady enough? Try not to breath when pressing the shutter button.

Both pics of pig family and pooh has very good lighting control, i like the pig more, the spot light come the way from top to down on the floor....and still good exposure on all the pigs...and with dark background, really bring out your subjects! rclxms.gif

The pooh also very nice, soft light feel... but a bit OOF to me, not sure whether focus issue or handshake a bit?

HoHoHo!!!....didn't expect the pig family can produce such effect. In fact, I tried a couple of different exposures using the M mode, and surprisingly, I found it quite fun playing around with it. Then later on, I did some post processing to adjust the exposure of the bg. biggrin.gif Actually, no special set-up for this simply shot. It's on my office desk... sweat.gif But overall it was fun....
For the pooh, yeap....I found it difficult to handheld under dim lighting even with the SSS turn on. I'm going to try it again using the tripod to see whether is it because of the focusing problem or what......but I guess....it's more on my low-light handheld skill blush.gif

Anyway, thanks for viewing...

Hehe....thanks....regarding the watermark....did you mean that you can't see the alphabet? or how? subject is interesting, but the image looked a bit like PnS, looks flat.

what setting did u use?

I'd suggest use smaller aperture. Adding UV filter might help 'clean' the horizon pics i think.

subject is interesting, but the image looked a bit like PnS, looks flat.

what setting did u use?

I'd suggest use smaller aperture. Adding UV filter might help 'clean' the horizon pics i think.

It has nothing to do with a UV filter already....cause i had one... tongue.gif btw...what do you mean by 'clean' the horizon pic...not quite understand... rclxub.gif but if you were saying to put on a CPL....then i agree lar...however...i don't have one right now... sweat.gif

To certain extents, travel pics might easily look like PnS to many of you here.....pic flat is because of DOF control not good....which mean my skill is not there yet lor.... blush.gif sweat.gif

Setting wise....you can check the EXIF data... smile.gif

oh u had the UV filter on already?

from the EXIF, you're using aperture priority setting, right? next time, under similar condition try using manual setting. use ISO100 wherever possible. for wide landscape pics, try use smaller aperture.
