There are some users with absolutely no problems at all with IPv6.

I am one of them.

But there are others who complain of buffering in video streaming and a host of accessibility problems with certain websites.

Of course there are those whose routers do not support IPv6.

Which category are you in right now? smile.gif

It is better if you can let us know which ISPs do not support IPv6.

Then those forumers using those ISPs will know that they need not participate in this poll.

So, Maxis Fibre Internet users, please note that you need not participate in this poll because your ISP does not support IPv6.

If that is not what you experience, please do let us know the details. smile.gif

You are not using IPv6.

There is no IPv6 tag at the right-hand corner of your posting.

No problem most of the time even when streaming YouTube at 1080p.

For Facebook, occasionally there are slowdown but I suspect it is problem with Facebook servers itself, as I can access it without issues on mobile app, but not on the web.

So I can say, no issues for me using IPv6 on IPv6-enabled sites.

There will be a IPV6 at the right corner of your post if you have IPV6 access. Probably your router isnt able to support IPV6 or IPV6 is disabled in your router.

I think you probably need to check your IPV6 configuration at router first, IPV6 is totally working fine on my Andriod 5 & 6 devices.

Hmm? How old is your android OS anyway?
There is a weird bug about IPv6 RA processing in dhcpcd that causes wifi wakelock. (Basically, it wakes wifi chip and operate at full power for few seconds. Now this "few seconds" practically repeats around every 3-5seconds.)

#11 Jame...@landiego.com
Just an update, I set my DHCPv6 server to also allow stateless configuration which fixed the issue. Pure DHCPv6 causes the lag

I propose you to read all of those comments.....

I think is all regarding the IPv6 setting on your router. Mine Galaxy S6(6.0.1), Nexus 4(6.0.1), Mi Pad(4.4.4) and my sisters Galaxy A5, Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy Note Edge and Redmi note, all work fine with IPv6.

This is my router setting for IPv6

Except IPv6 performance on Malaysia youtube streaming.

What can I say....right after 11AM.....50kb/s

Attached Image

For the 10 5 or 8 seconds before clock strikes 11:00AM...I got 400KB/S.....then 50KB/s......

EDIT2:
That it vmad.gif ....everyone with 50KB/s IPV6 youtube throttling should send feedback together with CDN info.

First, visit https://redirector.googlevideo.com/report_mapping to find out your assigned CDN.

Then visit youtube website, scroll down to bottom and click 'Send Feedback'
Attached Image

Make a feedback on Malaysia youtube CDN server with explicit mention of IPv6 slowdown to 50KB/s during 11AM to 1AM.
EDIT3: Make sure write that you are TM Streamyx subscribers.

The more people complain about this to youtube.......the better.
Do realize this 'throttling' session has been happening since 2013.

The more people complain about this to youtube.......the better.
Do realize this 'throttling' session has been happening since 2013.

For my case is opposite, if with ipv4 certain video cant play properly, keep buffering, but with ipv6 all videos can play without buffering 24/7.

IPv6 disable, buffering

IPv6 enable, playing smoothly

When I was on Streamyx, I do have a lot of problem with IpV6. When I contacted the customer support, they asked me to try to disable IpV6. And true enough all problems goes away...

I moved to Unifi, at first IpV6 isn't much of a problem... but as time goes, it starts to slowing down, not sure what happen I went on to disabled the IpV6 and everything works wonders again.

I start to wonder if the issues is router related.

Unifi users seem to have 'better' CDN allocated to them.
So, based on https://redirector.googlevideo.com/report_mapping , what are CDNs allocated to both of you?

1 more thing i notice with IPv6, IPv6 play youtube video instantly once click the video link, but with IPv4, it will load around 1-2 second then only play the video.

I think it is router's problem. I am a UniFi, Streamyx, Maxis Fiber & TIME Fiber user. UniFi and Streamyx has problem with their IPV6 but after changing the router, my UniFi and Streamyx has no problem with IPV6. Time Fiber has no problem with their IPV6 but sadly, Maxis Fiber doesnt support IPV6 yet. If you want to use IPV6 on Maxis Fiber, you have to use tunnel broker.

I doubt it is router/modem issue. It is time specific throttling.
I got Dlink, TPlink, Asus and Aztech (2012 - 2015)

With Dlink free dynamic DNS bundle (CCTV usage) rclxms.gif , I setup hurricane electric ipv6 tunnel and voila.......turbo 400KB/s from some America based youtube CDN.
Although I prefer not to use tunnel broker stuff due to some privacy concern. Not to mention it added some latency.....

Ya. Tunnel Broker does add some latency, that's why I don't really like it. You can use the dlinkddns.com account on other router. I created a dlinkddns account for my DVR with P1. Not willing to pay dyndns. Haha

Bundled free dlinkddns is linked to DLINK MAC addresses now, can't use it on other router.......technically I can.....telnet/ssh into the router and use 'macchanger -m XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX interface' , it works.....and editing/adding the profile of available dynamic dns list......

The older version of TM lousy router doesn't clamp TCPMSS to PMTU.

Quoting wikipedia:
IPv6 routers do not support fragmentation or the Don't Fragment option. For IPv6, Path MTU Discovery works by initially assuming the path MTU is the same as the MTU on the link layer interface where the traffic originates. Then, similar to IPv4, any device along the path whose MTU is smaller than the packet will drop the packet and send back an ICMPv6 Packet Too Big (Type 2) message containing its MTU, allowing the source host to reduce its Path MTU appropriately. The process is repeated until the MTU is small enough to traverse the entire path without fragmentation.

After so long, there are still many users who have problems with IPv6.

However, they are also many of us who have absolutely no problems.

This is indeed a strange problem with no foreseeable solution in sight.

There is a design flaw with IPv6 when using URL with port. Because the : is used as part of the address, when we need to specify port number

We need to put [IPv6]:port

The extra bracket [] broke most of the existing application.

I said it broke *existing* software.

Example: If you are using http://192.168.0.1/index.html but changed to port 81 instead of the default 80.

What existing software will do is, http://192.168.0.1:81/index.html

But if you use IPv6, http://::1/index.html, becomes http://::1:81/index.html. It will not works. It has to be http://[::1]:81/index.html.

The requirement to add extra bracket [] broke almost all existing software. If IPv6 uses another characters instead of :, those old software that doesn't aware of IPv6 should still works. Because they can handle IPv6 just like IPv4.

Still using IPv6 although behind my proxy though. The Youtube speed limit sure is annoying.

Strange.

I have been using IPv6 since day one, and I never have any problems at all with Youtube HD streaming.

Yes, very strange indeed.

Although some IPv6 users complain of problems with Youtube streaming, the poll shows that the majority of IPv6 users have absolutely no problems at all, including me.

I am using IPv6 on a Huawei WS880 with Xwrt-Vortex firmware. smile.gif

Yes, you are right.

I didn't notice that the poll still shows that the majority of IPv6 users have no problems at all.

Nope.

You don't have an IPv6 tag at the top right corner of your posting.

When I use TM (Streamyx) IPv6, any IPv6 connection TM will cap, so I use Tunnel Broker

They do have the 6in4 function. But I can't set up DDNS for Tunnelbroker.

U-mobile seems to have been deploying dual-stack IPv6 connectivity too, and it seems to work OK here. You don't always get an IPv6 address though; you need to recycle your data connection until you get one.
