Just to share a few 'weird' things i note on my short test drive experience with the Persona today:

1. The HU is quite laggy, and isn't the best to operate say when the car is in motion. Steering controls, when pressed, takes awhile for the HU to capture and respond accordingly.

2. The CVT unit takes about 0.5 sec to 'bite' upon engaging. For example, to move from complete standstill, you need to let the car move for about 0.5s before stepping on the accelerator and the acceleration would be very linear. Else, if you step too early, once the CVT kicks in, you feel a jump.

3. The suspension is on the firmer side. It's not to say uncomfortable, but it goes over bumps harder than say the Korean makes, T and H.

4. The brakes aren't gradual in bite. But once they bite, they do bite.

5. Throughout my test drive, no matter how I feathered the throttle, the ECO indicator never lit up. Asked the SA, he told me then it only lights up once you've broken the 4k rpm barrier and then drive very slowly after that (Plain BS if you ask me, suspect that maybe it was turned off or something).

6. Car's FC average was 14.5 L/100km (very high). Hopefully it's just on the test drive unit that is abused constantly, and that real world figures can return about 7L/100km.

7. The signal light sound from inside the cabin (tik tak tik tak) sounds cheap-ish unlike those in the Inspira which sounds really upmarket haha.

That is all i believe. Please note that I am only sharing the weird observations I found for discussion or sharing, because what I felt was good with the car has been shared previously. Overall, I still feel it is a good car and good effort from Proton, so much so that I might be getting one myself. Just contemplating on whether to get the Premium or Standard (the executive is a no no for me).

The HU is not so nice to use but it is acceptable.

For the FC, after using the car for about a day, I managed to get to about 7 something litres for 100km. Combination of highway, fast and slow driving plus city. Not too bad lah. Will improve further as it runs in.

You already got your unit? That's really early! When did you place your booking? How is it like living with the car thus far?

Considering the booking almost reach 8K right now (if i'm not mistaken), the ready stock car already gone, need to wait for production car OR your SA is bullshitting you if the waiting period is 4 weeks. Kindly check with other branch before proceeding with that 4 weeks branch.

sweat.gif that seems odd. Either proton didn't expect the good reception or sa is spinning stories to get you to buy out of pressure

I've already placed my booking and loan is approved. It's just a very bad feeling knowing that initially the SA told me 2 weeks can arrive. Now the long wait starts.

Edit: Not to say that I feel the SA is at fault, it could be due to Proton. But whatever it is, it's a long sad wait haha

it's not clear, objectively manual or automatic is a better choice? irregardless of personal preference.
*
Objectively?

Anyways, from a purely technical point of view, manual is the way to go as it has a higher efficiency compared to automatic gearboxes.

In terms of maintenance, manual is the way to go as it is almost maintenance free bar the need for a clutch change and an oil change once in a very blue moon.

This is all with personal preferences (incl. convenience, driveability etc.) aside.

A bit pissed off today my check engine light suddenly turn on without any warning. Probability some of the sensor is fucked up. Only use for 3 days and this kind of problem arise. Gonna go to SC tomorrow and fix this issues. Lucky the SC is only 5KM from my place if not. mad like dog.

well this is my review after getting my auto executive variant..
a day after get the car i drove straight back to my hometown, Kota Bharu, kelantan
from ipoh-->Kuala Kangsar-->Gerik-->Jeli-->Kota Bharu is about 216 km
my tank is 6/7 bars and reached KB with 2 bars left (didn't calculate t FC)
just drove with casual way and not heavy footer..all the way can say is on eco mode
as my RPM is below 3000..only for hill climbing on East-west highway Gerik-->Jeli no eco indicator
handling is better then my saga flx..most of the turns while on hill area can be maneuver easily at 90 to 100km/h except for sharp turn i just won't dare to go faster..(with wife and 1yo baby of course safety comes first)
CVT experience on this new persona is much better and smooth compare to very loud cvt on saga FLX when climbing hill..acceleration also good can overtake with more confident during cornering uphill or downhill.
NVH for me is acceptable bcos i dont know the NVH for previous persona(if compare with saga flx of course saga is way behind) after this if i run my persona on concrete pavement will update the NVH bcos is very loud when driving my saga.
On my way back to Ipoh full tank started at Tanah Merah and reached my home with 4 bars balanced(maybe half tank has been consume)..about 190 km.

Problems
1. My door on driver side seems not install correctly or got some defect bcos when driving above 60km/h u can hear some air entering through the door seal.(today already complain to SC but they didnt hv time to do so will make an appointment to
rectify this issue later.
2. Second is the dashboard rattle or krek krek sound somewhere at the centre..this sound appear when i reached KB..action taken by SC they said tighten something behind as for tonight no sound of the krek krek..will monitor for this few days if it will
occur again..sigh..
3. my headlamp level is very high..during my journey back a few cars and lorries flash me bcos of my headlamp eventhough i set to lowest level already..fixed today by SC.
for now thats the only problem from my 10 days old persona.

Just to ask another owner what oil SC use for ur car..mine is just mineral (5000km) and i didnt top up to semi or fully.
Is it true that if I use mineral then free service is until 30000km only..my SC told me that way..that means proton just giving 6 times free services??if want until 60k hv to top up and use fully..please clarify this..
or my SC just tipu..if have proof is better then i can argue with them next time

thats all for now

On the EO used for service, your SC is obviously lying. Just email Proton and you'll have the answer. Then print it out and slap it on the SC's face for lying. SCs like these give Proton a bad name and should be shamed...

Any owner received their Premium CVT already? Seems like other spec got more ready stock than the Premium spec.

3 weeks since booking, I'm now still waiting for Proton to allocate and deliver the car to dealer.

Also, I heard from my SA that, proton manufacturer line is now occupied by new Saga, thus production of persona will be slower and thus delivery time will be delay. Seriously hope it won't happen.

If anyone here is interested in getting a new Persona, you guys can try to talk to @vincent818 . I booked with him and he is a very responsive SA. Gave me quite a good deal too.

Another one here. Waiting for my Premium CVT since Sep.
They told me, Ill get it in 2 weeks (from 6.9.2016) If thr're no issue with my loan.
Loan approved. Signed. Within a week.
After 2 weeks, they called, to inform that it'll take a while for it to arrive and ask me to upgrade for Premium SS(with bodykit).

Agreed to upgrade, and been promised to receive in 2 weeks. But,since then been waiting till now. No updates. have to call everytime, to be informed that the car will arrive by the week after (every time I called) Till yesterday, they informed that Proton is having problem with radio supplier causing the production to delay.

Super frustrated.

Hi bro, what colour did you book? At one point, i even called Proton direct as advised by my SA. However, it seemed almost useless calling Proton. Even my SA knows Proton better than Proton knows Proton.
