Hi, I own a Nikon D90 and it's shutter has jammed midway between open and close. I'm staying in penang, is there any good repair shops and how much am I expected to pay?

Is it worth repairing or should I buy a new camera? I don't shoot very frequently and a new camera seems like a waste of money

I had this issue with my D7000 about a year ago. The shutter just doesn't open or close properly. Sent it to Nikon and they quoted around RM 1.5k. I decided not to proceed since it is about the price of a second hand D7000 at that time.

I suggest you send it to Nikon for a check. It may be just something trivial that got stuck and is easily fixed with minimal cost.

Thanks for your reply. I've sent to nikon as you've suggested and they quote me rm260 for parts, rm200 for labour. After GST it comes up to rm490+.

The said need to replace SQ, Aperture control and rubber casing.

Any ideas outside shop may be any cheaper?
To spend rm500 to repair an old camera seems a bit high for me.

just curious have you sent camera sent for repairing? if no.. u might want to look known camera shops.. sometimes they can send to Nikon (with cheaper repair + parts price)

Ask yourself this question: are you planning to upgrade soon?

IF YES:
dont bother repairing

IF NO:
repair, then continue using. D90 is still a good camera.. however it has some limitations (for you to find out)
