Hi,
I returned to Penang a few months ago after many years away. Anyone here does regular surf/beach or rock fishing? I'm looking for some fishing buddies to join with, no commitment but just pure go fishing whenever one is free. I can only do casting as I get sea sick quite easily. I've tried a few spot so far with little success but in saying this like any fisherman, I still get the satisfaction I yearned for.... smile.gif

You will have more luck finding massage buddies than fishing buddies in /k.

Not refuting your view but you certainly have a point there, hahaha.....

Same here and I've always love fishing. 30 years ago, I fished everywhere in Penang with my bike but now I've only car, no bike, so that limit my spot. Also my past fishing buddies are all lost and some have other priority....sad.gif ... so that lead me to search for new buddies.... or at least get to know some locals who is actively fishing.... smile.gif.

got stolen .... sad.gif

I do have 2 sets of reel, both multiplyer reel but meant for distance casting. If you're familiar with casting multiplyer, you are most welcome.... 3 rods, 12', 13' and a 9', I think.... smile.gif
To date, I've fished at Shamrock beach, behind Latin quarter and padang besar. I like that shamrock spot so far but I think padang besar yeild better. Shamrock is peaceful, no crowd. All these places, I've only tried once.... May drive over to shamrock in an hiur time. smile.gif

me just a hobbyist, nth serious ...
dont even know the brands of my rods, just buy 2 set on impulse and off i go ... spent quiet a sum on it that time as well (like 1400 ?? small to some but big to me)
prefer to use own set lar, cause i simply baling one, later might baling your rod in as well ... lol ...

got stolen a while ago in sitiawan ... maybe few more days time (hopefully) once i get $$$ then can go buy one more set

I'd say 1,400 an investment not a hit and run. Sorry that you lose them. You are most welcome to join me with my gears.. The only thing is a multiplyer is harder to cast. Both mine have magnets to control over run but that doesnt mean it will never over run. It's meant for distance casting as without the mag, it's impossible to do long cast.

You can cast under the Penang Bridge as it reaches the island.
You can scout from there by cycling the track right up to Queensbay Mall for a few spot for casting too.
Beyond Queensbay Mall along the seaside road to the second bridge too have a few spots.
Do check them out and hope you meet a few fishing buddies there. thumbup.gif

Another excellent idea, a bicycle. Yes, I may look around, since I got a China 7 seater, lol. Will have to find one that I wouldnt mind if its stolen.....
