Well I'm just lucky. I have 3 jolteons.

1st use nickname sparky
2nd random evolve to jolteon
3rd use nickname sparky as well.

Personal observation based on my usage of pokeballs to rare pokemon encounters. I find that after a streak of rare encounters my Great and Ultra balls fall below the ratio. Same with normal balls if I go on a pidgey or weedle streak.

So I monitor the shortfall based on that 3x ratio.
