FAQ
1. Why don't you top up gas (refrigerant)?
- Refrigerant is NOT a consumable product. Unless there is a refrigerant leakage, there is no way for the refrigerant inside your air conditioner to be used up. When there is a refrigerant leakage, a simple refrigerant top up is only a temporary solution unless you repair the leakage.
2. Why don't you check gas (refrigerant) pressure?
- Whenever you check the refrigerant pressure, there is some refrigerant being released from the system. It is because of the nature of the service valve (called Schrader valve), just like the valve on your car tyre. Although the amount of refrigerant being released is small (a few grams each time), it is relatively big compared to the whole refrigerant charge of only a few hundred grams in your air conditioner.
- As a result, a normal & working air conditioner does not need refrigerant pressure check. Refrigerator or freezer working principle is similar to air conditioner. Think of your refrigerator / freezer, have you ever checked the refrigerant pressure? Is the refrigerator need refrigerant pressure check & refrigerant top up after many years of usage?
- We can judge the performance of your air conditioner by comparing the difference between return and supply air temperature. It shall be at least 8C of temperature difference as stated by most manufacturers in their user manual.
3. Why doesn't my air conditioner evaporator coil shine after cleaning with enzyme based cleaner? I remember that my air conditioner shines brightly after chemical service.
- Acidic or alkaline chemical will corrode & remove a layer of metal from your evaporator coil, hence the shining effect. However, cooling capacity will be reduced due to less metal surface for heat transfer and your evaporator coil is prone to refrigerant leakage.
- Our enzyme based cleaner only targets mould, fungus, bacteria & bio-film (jelly), and it causes no harm to your air conditioner coil. It is normal for a clean air conditioner coil to look dull after the air conditioner is being used.
4. Why don't you dismantle the whole indoor unit for deep cleaning?
- Our enzyme based cleaner is specifically developed for HVAC coil cleaning which can penetrate up to 8 inches thickness of coil. It has powerful coil cleaning effect.
- Since our enzyme based cleaner is safe on humans, equipment & the environment, we do not need to dismantle the whole indoor unit just to rinse off completely the toxic acid or alkaline chemicals with high pressure water jet. In fact, after the enzyme based cleaner dislodged dirt, mould, fungus & jelly on coil, they can be rinsed off easily by using medium pressure water jet.
- Every time when you have dismantled the refrigerant coil, you expose your air conditioner to risk of failure. Moisture is harmful to your air conditioner when it is being introduced into the refrigerant system, especially when you dismantle the indoor evaporator coil & clean with water. Unless you perform a complete deep evacuation of the whole refrigerant system with a vacuum pump, it is not recommended to dismantle the indoor evaporator coil for cleaning
5. Why enzyme based cleaner? Why not acidic or alkaline chemical?
- Enzyme based cleaner causes no harm to humans, your air conditioner & even the environment.
- Acidic or alkaline chemical will corrode your air conditioner coil and hence reducing cooling capacity & leads to refrigerant leak.
- Mould & fungus are stubborn microorganisms which penetrates deep into the coil, therefore, it takes time for all sort of cleaners to remove it. Due to corrosive nature of acid & alkaline, they cannot be left on coil longer to effectively remove these microorganisms.
- There are chances for acid or alkaline chemical for not being rinsed off completely. When this happens, the chemical residue will continue to corrode your air conditioner coil & then produces harmful gas in your house or room.
6. How often should I clean my air conditioner?
- Due to hot & humid Malaysia weather, we use air conditioner frequently, and at the same time, mould or fungus grows easily on your air conditioner.
- For average usage of 8 hours per day, your air conditoner should be cleaned twice per year.
7. I still have a lot of questions regarding your cleaning method because I have never heard this before.
