Do you guys suggest I get MSI Z270 Pro Carbon or Asus Strix Z270F?

To me Pro Carbon looks nicer but I'm wondering which one can give better OC?

Both are equally good to me, they have solid build quality, there are plenty of reviews available online. If you happen to own a compatible Asus GPU (& other compatible aura sync enabled hardware like selected Phanteks casing and G.SKill TridentZ RGB RAM), you will be able to utilize the RGB aura sync features if you choose Strix Z270F.

Hmm then say for example will there be any difference if I go for the MSI Tomahawk rather than the Pro Carbon? Since specs wise they are the same other than the RGB lighting.

MSI Tomahawk is one tier lower than Pro Carbon.

They do have similar amount of power phase count (10 which is very good for stable OC), but Tomahawk doesn't support Nvidia SLI and RGB lighting.

Hi guys. Got my rig last week and bought an XFX RX 480 RS XXX 8GB. It is sitting in the tecware alpha chassis. Running battlefield 1 got the gpu temp to go as high as 88 degree celcius. The fact that it's a new card, I'm starting to get worried about the card's lifespan in the long run. My friend said the thermal paste might be the culprit here. Should i be worried? What should i do?

Make sure your environment isn't hot. Minimum recommended setup for casing is one intake and one exhaust fan.

Yeah, it could be crappy thermal compound as well. Look for Arctic Cooling MX-4 from Idealtech. You might wanna check for warranty terms before replacing it. If this is first week, just do the one to one exchange.

any non-k/locked processor comes with HSF[Intel stock cooler] inside. Just use it, it'll work just fine

You may downgrade the i5 6600 to i5 6500 (or even i5 6402P to save even more).

Stick with stock cooler for the initial build, if it gets too hot then only add a low profile 3rd party CPU cooler.

GTX1060 3GB is a good pick if you are on a tight budget (or RX470 4GB is fine too), you get roughly 90% of the performance of the full GTX1060 6GB specs at ~RM 300 lesser.

Then, it's simple the 1060 become 3GB then you just get a normal MOBO worth below RM3xx and a power supply worth RM 3xx as well, should be OK as well.

3.5k is nowhere near enough to build anything of this sort..... its that far off.....

Yes you can, you may do this:

Intel Core i5 7400 - RM 841
ASRock B250 Pro 4 - RM 449
G.SKill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 275
Sapphire RX470 4GB GDDR5 Nitro+ - RM 998
Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB SSD - RM 375
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 195
Tecware Edge - RM 149

Total: RM 3501 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

Then you need to re-calculate your allocation as well, it will be over budget, the price difference between GTX1060 3GB and 6GB is around RM 300+/- only laugh.gif

Then it will be either 3 of these (there ain't too many mATX mobo choices to make):

1. Asus Prime Z270M-PLUS (7 power phase design)
2. ASRock Z270M Extreme 4 (6 power phase design)
3. ASRock Z270M Pro 4 (6 power phase design)

More power phase is better for OC traditionally but this had changed in the past few generations (around Broadwell/Skylake era), 6 is sufficient to provide a stable OC for most of the reviewers, what is more important is the quality of the VRM and the temperature management, these boards are very new and don't have much reviews posted online yet, well in this case, I would go with the one I like in terms of features offered and board design, probably the Z270M Extreme 4 (comes with PCIe steel slots, RGB LED support and cool design).

Drop the GPU into 1060 3GB Version
Get a 500W PSU (Power Supply)
8GB RAM

Should be enough.
