Do you bring any protection during your runs?

I have been bringing my tactical combat knife 7" on my runs just for safety purposes, it's concealed carry tho.

I know people who bring pepper spray(very common), some bring blunt force weapon(common), some bring knife like me(not very common), and got 1 fella bring taser

But out of all, only one friend who bring knife ever had to use it, basically he's full of adrenaline and stab the shit of some would-be-robber on a motorbike during his night run @ cheras area - guess the robber wasn't expecting it, and he just continue his merry way lol.

on the topic of trail shoes, is there any issue using trail shoes on road races? will it worn the gigi faster? or maybe effect the landing a bit more?
