I didn't take any gel in last year's KLSCM, only Himalayan Salt candy and Salt Stick.
Finished almost sub 5 so I guess it depends on one's body

Always had gels before that. I took one every 10km or so.
But my PB was last year when I didnt take any gel.
I don't know whether gel or salt stick have any effect on my performance though cos there's other factor as well (mileage, lsd, gym, strength, diet etc)
