QUOTE(SerioseCat @ Mar 1 2018, 07:50 AM) Outsider. i see. it was horrible but the organizers manage it quite good. they have a water station on top of the bukit so u can go crazy on coke, 100 plus and mineral water right after struggling your way up. Friend brought me there. So I tagged along with his group. At the end of 3rd loop my toes almost cramped dy. got warm coffee oso at times and they have the numbing spray as well. the main station at starting point oso stocked with food and drinks until the very end. quite well organized la. |

QUOTE(ariffdude @ Mar 1 2018, 12:52 PM) You should give it a try man. you'll probably surprise yourself. it sounds gruelling but i think if you dont rush to go out of your pace and take frequent short breaks it's pretty doable. i only give it a try because the COT is quite long and i make full use of it. |

QUOTE(babychai @ Mar 12 2018, 09:28 PM) im wearing adidas kampung now but not recommended to wear it for run in long term. because rubber shoe no protection. better invest a bit True oso. But i think trail running should be easier for the feet because less hard surface compared to road runs. I still have a dream of getting vibrams five fingers but they cost a bomb lol. |

QUOTE(babychai @ Mar 12 2018, 10:56 PM) but trail still got small rock and big rock which is hard surface also. unless your trail all the way are muddy haha~ yeah for dedicated long trail runs probably not suitable. Dekathlon i really doubt the quality. It's okay lar when u decided lemme know okay ofcoz up to you but i not feeling comfortable to run with adidas kampung. last 2 weeks i saw trail running shoes RM129 at Decathlon. brand is Kalenji but not sure the quality so end up no buy |

QUOTE(psiloveu @ Mar 15 2018, 03:42 PM) Yes, 100km for CULTRA/BUTM. I used to wear sandal for second part of the event as my foot was "swollen" after long hours run/walk. TEACH ME MASTA! I'm eyeing on the Janda Baik Ultra and depending on how crazy my other mates are there's a small chance that we might try 100km lol. But i still got a lot to learn and train, especially since im not that experienced with long distance trail runs. The more i read about it the more nervous i feel and started to think if im rushing it lol.How was your first 100km event and how did you prepare for it? Do you really run a lot every week in preparation? |

QUOTE(90Boyz @ Mar 15 2018, 04:10 PM) it will be similar how your train like marathon but on different surface and will be longer hour under the suns . In a sense i didn't really train (not that hard) for marathon. Maybe a 5-10k run once or twice a month. HM event/obstacle races once every few months. I kinda get the feeling that i prolly wouldn't be able to make such long distances if i keep the same routine. Plus since the distance and duration is so long got new things to consider like how to eat, how to rest/sleep (like, do people even sleep on 24 hours± events?), need to carry stuff like bags/pouches, headlamp, poles etc. Or am i overthinking it lol. Recently i started running/cycling around 6km everyday on workdays as commute. Not too sure when will i be "ready" to take on something like a 100km. |

QUOTE(psiloveu @ Mar 15 2018, 04:35 PM) I m novice in trail run, started last year only. Haha 20-30km/week still consider lazy ka The training methodology as what 90Boyz wrote....... 1. foundation from road running training - to build up your stamina 2. add core muscle training 3. proper warm up / coll down stretching 4. train at different surfaces and weathers I chose Cultra as my first 100km trail because of cooler atmosphere, I just wanna to complete it within COT. But my clues to complete an ultra event is 1. enough rest few days before the event, most important is the night before the race (at least 4-5 hours sleep). 2. rehydrate the body all the time, must get enough fluid in the water bag. 3. frequent refuel your body. 4. listen to your body example if heart beat suddenly spike up, please rest of slow down your pace. Regarding my weekly mileage........i m a bit lazy, 20-30km, busy with work and child. Same for me oso usually after work need to spend time with family. That's why i try to include exercise during daily commute. Not sure how to do/fit in core muscle training. Did you went through many FM+ events before confident enough to take on 100km? During the final part of my 52km my stomach acid really went nuts. Other runners like eat nasi lemak, spaghetti and stuff and i was wondering if they can be processed properly during the run. I eat mostly fruits, sandwiches and snickers but they get quite sickening after a while. |

QUOTE(OcHaa @ Mar 20 2018, 05:17 PM) eyeing for a 100km run 100km in one go. Usually the cut off time is around 1-2 days. I think up to you how you plan to use your time as long as u can make it within the COT. how is the 100km race? any rest allocated in between? is it 100km one go or 100km/ week? then every night can rest then continue the next morning I'm curious oso how people usually rest in 100km runs. Do they went all the way without even a nap? Maybe allocate 1 or 2 hours for it? Short nap every stop? |
