well done bro.  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
hearing that u can complete the marathon really boost me confidence in run/walk strategy.  biggrin.gif
how's the race? a lot of runners? plenty of food? what run/walk ratio you use?
*
Thanks. I barely made the COT (10 minutes to cut off) but I made it nonetheless lol.

The HM time is my PB so far just a little bit over 3 hours. I think if i went about it the usual way i prolly won't make it by the 30th KM. Walk breaks prevents losing breath and blisters which i get a lot in my previous runs.

I started with 2 min run and 1 minute walk but i got super pancit after 25 km plus and my running started to deteriorate so i switched to 1 min run 1 min walk. I managed to keep that up until the finish line with few stops to eat and pain relief.

It was raining mid race which sucks but not long after i reached the telur goyang station and the hot softboiled egg on top of bread is godsent in that cold and wet situation. Not many ppl in exclusive FM routes but it gets a little crowded on shared routes. They give bananas along the way but rly not enough. I brought a snicker bar and a couple of small 5 stars bars and they really helped.

How do I do sprinting? I googled and they suggest speed running for 400 M or less.
*
I think sprinting is running at your maximum capacity and speed. Normal run can vary from slow run, fast run etc. Usually you do sprinting in set intervals - sprint for short bursts, then rest while walking and repeat.

dude, same. but spartan is super expensive wei. 1 spartan can almost join 2 vipers. i only register 1 to try see 1st. i think this year imma mix and match a bit. viper tunnel challenge seems quite interesting. also they started giving out under armour shirts which will hopefully improve the quality of their shirts.

cost is one factor, what i like about spartan = no waiting time or not as long as viper or any other obstacle courses / quite taxing for beast tho
*
oh have you been through one already? but quite strict right? one failed attempt and straight away have to do 30 burpees

yeah mostly for elite runners with red headband, towards the afternoon/evening session they just let it go and not that strict anymore but have to combat with hot sun and dehydration.

see you at the viper tunnel  biggrin.gif
*
i see. they don't have lots of water station? haizz i wish they at least give u try until u give up then can do burpees.

no set rules that you can do only once, its a matter of whether you can do more than once  biggrin.gif

fair share of water stations but its a matter of getting to the next one  biggrin.gif recent ones in Johor the weather was nice, it was a gloomy day
*
oh really? i think i read somewhere saying for spear throw for example, only one throw is allowed and if its a miss then its straight to burpee. ah gloomy days arethe best. not as annoying as raining and not as torturous as a sunny day.

Try this.

Settings  -> Battery & Performance -> Manage apps battery usage.
Go to 'Choose apps', choose proper one (Endomondo, Runkeeper, what you need) and choose there 'No restrictions' instead of default 'MIUIBattery saver' and 'Allow' under 'Background Location'.

Hope it helps to solve your problem. brows.gif

it's the first thing i tried. didn't work sad.gif

2nd thing i did, turn off battery saver. still no go.

i end up turning off sleep mode and run it with the screen unlocked, randomly buttdialing people along the way.

Rightnow, rip my life really.
Too engage with work... mentally drained too.

I try to insert your quote in my brain, like cast a spell to myself eat less run more eat less run more (...eat... more) lolx
I bought Hoka.
And signed up 10km this April 2018. Gotta start short runs...gg weh if FM haha
*
i have trouble finding time to dedicate for runs too. what i did is to incorporate runs into daily commute. instead of just driving to work take a combination of public transportation and some walking routes where i can run a little to and from work.

I'm thinking of buying those chapalang imitation compression tights (around rm40-60) online.

Don't expect them to be as good as original 2xu or under armour or something but wondering how good they are.

Anybody got experience using those? Does the compression even work at all? Got suggestions?

I'm not sure whether compression really helps or not.
I only wear it to prevent chafing.
*
I see. Yea the way Im seeing it for the price can prevent chafing and looking cool is good enough if compression is working would be bonus. maybe placebo effect at least lol.

There's also those partial compressions (calf sleeves etc) which is cheaper. Anybody here a big believer in compressions?

IMO, compression really work for recovery.

I see. Do you get those branded expensive ones ranging in the hundreds?

i just wear those chapalang brand ,since i also joined those obstacle race i wouldnt want those expansive comp pants to tear, right?

i have been using tesla brand comp attire

on the effect? personally i dont feel any difference
*
lol true. i thought of using paintball elbow/knee guard at one time as they're quite rugged.

Tesla got compression oso aa i tot electric car only lol.

I guess i know ady what to expect performance-wise from chapalang brand compression which is not much lol.

Was a little bit worried if badly done compression can actually hinder performance as they deal with blood flow and stuff. If this is not the case then shud be okay la.

hi guys, i been running with a cheapo decathlon "EKIDEN ONE MAN" for almost 2~3 months.

https://www.decathlon.my/p/8351755_ekiden-o...72-uk_5_5_eu_39

since i been running regularly for my HF training (2~3 days a week), the shoe is showing wear and tear. Mostly the outsole, it almost gone.

i am planing to get a new shoe and not planing to spend so much on it (budget constraint)
Below is my max budget and min (comfortable) budget, hope that sifu here can give some advise

RM 45 - Replace my old "EKIDEN ONE MAN" with a new "EKIDEN ONE MAN"
https://www.decathlon.my/p/8351755_ekiden-o...72-uk_5_5_eu_39

other budget option below RM50:
EKIDEN ACTIVE - BLUE LIME or WHITE RED
https://www.decathlon.my/p/8351740_ekiden-a...2-uk_11_5_eu_47
https://www.decathlon.my/p/8351738_ekiden-a...72-uk_5_5_eu_39
RM159 - Since i am a heavy runner (90kg+), i am getting a shoe for heavy runner "EKIPRIME MEN'S RUNNING SHOES - BLUE RED"
https://www.decathlon.my/p/8379987_ekiprime...72-uk_9_5_eu_44

other budget option below RM100:
https://www.decathlon.my/p/8354031_ekiden-a...-273-uk_5_eu_38
https://www.decathlon.my/p/8379979_run-acti...72-uk_5_5_eu_39
https://www.decathlon.my/p/8379980_run-elio...72-uk_9_5_eu_44
https://www.decathlon.my/p/8381492_run-acti...72-uk_9_5_eu_44

Above are my Max and Min budget, feel free to recommend me any running shoe below RM200

Thanks and happy Chinese New Year

Wha dekathlon shoes i really doubt the quality. Last time buy for my kid not 2 weeks fall apart already.

My go-to budget shoes are Power shoes from bata la. Don't have specific model to suggest but usually can go nearest bata and try the ones u think looks good. If it feels good as well then just take those. Around RM50 to 90 can usually find a decent pair.
