I think go for a new one instead of a 2nd hand...unless you know someone who deals 2nd hand cars.

just wondering
why
honda/toyota = omg spareparts are everywhere
and hyundai and such = omg spareparts are rare

what makes people think so? unsure.gif rclxub.gif

Maybe becoz korean car is still new into malaysian automotive market... Not even 10 years... Still lack of trust to korean car lo...
Plus korean car is lesser on the road compare to honda/toyoya car... Thats y the spareparts dealer dun import much of that parts to malaysia lo... Rather import honda/toyota parts...

but thing is
family owns a hyundai
plus another rare mitsu(no, not those sporty range)
i've got no problems sourcing spareparts

i've friends with citroens, alfas and such(arent those cars rarer than hyundais?), i havent hear any of them complaining the lack of spareparts
i even been to alfa's workshop(because im eyeing the 147 tongue.gif ), owners there told me, parts are no problem

spareparts on those rare cars is available but what about the pricing?

Yes, thats the whole point. Bad FC and expensive (plus slightly harder to source) spareparts really make me stay away from Koreans. Or else, the Getz is a good solid car. The interior is so much better than the Myvi and in some area its kinda on par with the Japanese. smile.gif

hmm the spareparts availability for korean cars is definitely not a problem, just that you might not get an option to choose either original parts or cheaper replacements. And ofcourse the original parts is quite costy smile.gif

there is a downside to second hand cars tho,

1) the owner might not take care of it properly, irregular service interval
2) there is a problem with the car and the owner want to sell it (sort of lemon car)
3) warranty (if still valid) might be harder to claim

so if possible, go get a new car for more peace of mind, because with a new car, you know what would be wrong with it and there is always warranty claim should anything goes wrong.

You got the point man, who know what the oner done with the car before..... blink.gif

I would say theres a few factors to consider when having a 2nd hand car.

1. Bring your trusted mechanic there to check for the car, or any accidents, Etc. (but since this is a 2005 car, should be alright)
2. Does he smoke? and do you mind? (I will not buy a smokers car)
3. Paintjob? is it well taken care of?
4. Interior of the car? Is it clean? or are the stains possible to be removed?
5. Mileage? With digital ODO meters..its kinda hard to cheat i guess.

Or do you want a new cars smell? tongue.gif

Agree with you, I don't like smoker also (but i respect them). Also we might know why they sell their's car?
