Wah, in that case i suggest u better off buying a new car instead. keeping ur car and modding it may need u to learnt how to mod cars, which is a hefty process unless u have passion on cars.
*
I only have passion when i can afford it tongue.gif I wont say mod, just to fix it. I wont expect my Iswara to run like a Porsh.

im guessin that u have no more loans 2 pay on that car.. so, 2 options.. either sell it off n use that money 2 make downpayment 4 new car or keep the iswara n repair it back again.. 1st plan, upside is, no headache as its a new car, but downside is have 2 start paying new loan.. 2nd option is, downside, u have 2 spent a lot 2 restore the car, but upside is no need 2 start a new loan..

so, ur choice..

Sorry i am noob in car business. whats half cut? And any good workshop u guys can recommend?
*
hey bro halfcut basically means getting parts from those kedai potong where certain cars were involve in accidents and no longer roadworthy, therefore they are salvaged for useful parts ie engine...but getting a halfcut requires many considerations especially to people like us who noe very little bout cars....unless u have a reliable mechanic that knows a thing or two and has reliable supplier...otherwise, a few k may be gone buying an engine that has been "trashed" during its prime time...if u understand what i mean.. biggrin.gif therefore, if ur iswara engine could still move u around without much difficulties in morning cranking or frequent breakdowns, in my opinion, stick to it

apart from that, ur car shakes upon cruising at 100++ km/p could be caused by many reasons..
first of all, has ur vehicle undergo any wheel balancing or alignment recently? if not, get it done...
2ndly, are ur tires still in good condition? if they are bloated or has uneven surface, chances are, it will shake....if so get it change.....
3rdly, did u have the suspension+absorber checked?..most probably they have worn out after all these years of travelling...changing faulty ones could save u alot in rubber in the future

lastly, if u wan to squeeze more juice out of ur aged engine...you might consider a overhauling of the engine (bear in mind, this is very expensive)..and the result, FC improve and u would get back some uuhhhmmm from it tongue.gif ...additionally, you could change ur exhaust system to a better one?...well this is oso costly....but thats the relationship between power & cost.....more power more costly....

frankly speaking, since u have decided to keep ur trusted pal, and has one house loan on your shoulder....i would recommend u to do what is more important first...ie what is necessary to bring ur car's condition to a safe level...others that doesnt contribute to tat can wait....

cheers

Actually my car never really breakdown before, its just the small small thing that bothers me. Like riseup, vacum, meter cable, air-con compressor and recently it need more time to warm up and problem in maintaning the rpm when turning on the air-con. Any clue on that?

dude, im not kidding.. my family's in the car trade too.. i know the market..

n a bit of an info 4 u dude, in the car trade world, even its last n this yr wit a difference of only one day (31st dec n 1st of jan), it'll make a big difference in price..

if u still dont believe, try calling up ur dealers now.. ask how much theyre willing 2 take a yr 97 iswara..
*
You've mistaken my point. I'm saying the Iswara will sell for very low, I gave an example of my own trade-in becos it was very low too. If your family's in the car trade, then you should know a 10-year old Iswara can't really fetch 10k, right? A 6-year old was already quoted for 10k, so how can a 10-year old be quoted for the same price?

Saw two 10 years Iswara in Motor Trader and 1 selling for 9.5K and another for 8.5K. So imagine the price when the dealer buy from u sweat.gif

U gotta compare the old car with a new iswara pricing of around 25k only - the old 97 iswara wont be worth much to sell.. might as well keep it

But if he sells the car(which I assume is fully paid, 10 years, should have), the money he gets can be used to pay quite a downpayment.

jual saja habis cerita

i wouldn't be wrong if i say you spend about 3-5k a year just to maintain that old junk

i'd rather spent that money on installments for a new car

besides, a new car gives you a peace of mind - safety as a priority and less time to think about maintenance

keeping your old junk for another few yrs won't make much difference. the price is now near terminal - that is nearing it's lowest price point. if u get anywhere around 7 - 9k for the car (before repairs and stuff), just sell it and get a new car.

just bear in mind, take account of your house loan monthly repayment before deciding your budget

(rule of thumb: 1/3 salary for the house, 1/4 for the car, the rest for the growing family)

With my salary i manage to pay both at the same time, but u will never know. Things happen. And with the car loan i have to save on other stuff like DVDs, food and other good things in life. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
