Now it's confirmed that if u have any of those fund, don't needed to fill up new applications form.. All use 1 common account number...
So I guess it much easy nowadays.. Since u have ASG, all use the same number...

But the biggest question now, the tellers will know all the funds balance just with a click (even u don't show your passbook).. Its using 1 acc number.. Top up, withdraw, open, close account...

yea... nowadays quite hard.... but last year I move from ASG to ASM easily... haha. most of the people here did the same too. 6% quite high compared to FD. but need to go thru all the pain of getting units lo...

For VP, need to look at market value (i.e. current NAV x total units) instead of just compared buying price n present price as any distribution during the period will pull down the NAV

I presume '(6 figure)' must b very big 
Perhaps u may consider to switch gradually from VP to FP if u r not comfortable

Majority inside FP & dividend stocks now. Still have some FDs at Affin 4.3% & HLB 4.25%.
Can survive with dividends from stocks without touching FP dividends.

All timing and luck. Auntie twinkle regularly shared every successful top up here. 4-6 trips, 3 banks in 1 day as I had to move the few 'bricks' from stagnant FD. Easier with 3 passbooks as somehow, always managed to get 1 or 2 of them in one day. Once I set my mind to do something, I'll do my best to accomplish it.
With multiple trips to many banks, everyday was a successful day, range from 3 to 5 digits.
I managed to hit 1st and 2nd target for ASM, AS1M & ASW  within 10 days to 21 days in May itself- all 6 digits. It'd be impossible to just wait for end of the month or 1st of the month. You can try multiple 5 digits > 50k / day but with luck and timing. Yes, majority bank staff and PNB do question on my $$ and they get to hear my working life. I don't see anything to worry as $$ was repatriated back from my previous workplace to my local bank in proper manner.

Top up cost is given dy as it's definitely more cost effective to perform transaction via online for ASB

Harder and troublesome compare to OTC (from previous posts). But still no harm trying RM5k. If the RM5k is not refunded within 3 days to your account, means you got it. 

Majority of 'investors' I've met during my 'hunting' days ended up opening 'basic saving account at Affin Bank as the staff are extremely helpful. Many tried 'octopus bank' nearby but was 'shoo' away to Affin Bank too. At the end Affin Bank benefited with extra new accounts and deposits. I only asked for ATM card and no bank passbook as I dislike carrying it. I just produced my IC for any transaction. If you've a passbook, you may need to produce it (I think). I've carried 5-6 digits visiting 2-3 banks, 4-6x/ day as no one will look at old auntie swinging umbrella walking pass by. Probably they'll try to avoid me as much as possible in case I accidentally hit them.
Be extra careful when you carry cash around esp if you walk out from 1 bank to another. Easier to deposit small amount each time unless you're as lucky as me and some of the member here.
I'm sure if you visit banks more frequent, your chances will be higher.

All luck & timing. I sat at ASNB, re Q 6-8x for nearly 3 hours trying, just for 100u to open 3 passbooks.

I've extra units of AS1M & ASM too but most probably will let them hibernate inside.
I don't need $$ now as my KLSE 'turtle' stocks are doing quite well.
