Anyone here has imported their watches from abroad? I'm interested in acquiring a certain piece of affordable watch (only USD 300 before shipping fees), but I can't seem to find the particular model in Malaysia (at least when I searched online). It's available in one of the US shop and I'm planning to just buy it there. However, I want to be sure first of the duties and taxes that I should pay before actually going through with the transaction. I'd really appreciate it if someone can shed a light on this. notworthy.gif

Has anyone bought something from the online store "Malaysia Watch"? They currently have some deals going on in Lazada because of the 12.12, but I'm looking for reaffirmation. hmm.gif

Can anyone recommend a good, affordable watch winder for at least 4 watches?
I have a winder for 2 watches and since my modest collection is growing, I'm looking for a bigger watch winder hmm.gif

I just found out today that last March, Citizen announced their new mechanical movement called Caliber 0200
Their introduction is quite lengthy, but I was really interested in their new model using that movement
In the back of my mind, Citizen is this brand offering reliable watches with affordable price, so I was excited that I might be able to buy this!
But boy am I wrong or what!! Based on an article in Hoodinkee, the watch will come out in Autumn 2021, with a price tag of US$6,000! notworthy.gif

Well, the fact that they seem to use the expertise of La Joux-Perret (acquired in 2012 by Citizen) might be one factor to the price
That being said, as a new watch enthusiast who is still in the middle class society, I think I can only say farewell to this one bye.gif

Just a curious question, how do you guys see affordable watches?
I'm a relatively new watch enthusiast and to be honest, at first I felt intimidated when people are talking about watch as a hobby
Because from general middle-class point of view, it immediately connects to watches like Rolex, Patek, AP, Omega, and other brands that are largely unaffordable bye.gif

It's not until a friend of mine introduced me to a much more affordable brands, like Seiko or Orient, that I found my interest in watches
Of course in the end I want to have a couple of those atas brands, but since I'm in the hobby, I somehow want to share to the general public that it's not always about the expensive brands icon_idea.gif

anyone has anywhere to recommend to service an automatic watch?

has been 5 years since I owned it and thought i ought to sent it for a preventive maintenance.

just a humble Victorinox.

several users here have recommended Wah Foong at Jalan Raja Laut..
that being said, I personally haven't tried servicing any of my watches there.. hmm.gif

go somewhere else if possible..
my fren went there to service his automatic watch recently..

poor workmanship...
maybe unlucky but still........ shakehead.gif

whoopsie..
yeah, I get what you mean, it takes one shoddy job to ruin other good ones..
but it's always good to have feedbacks like this.. thumbsup.gif

have a vintage or neo vintage, this is the guy you go to. highly recommended. usually we only sent watches which are rare in spare parts to him for repairs.
have a new ceramic daytona or some whacky new ass independent complication watch? many other options outside.
*
oho! given that I have both type of watches, that's actually a good tip..
at least now I know where to go if I got an issue with my Seikomatic Weekdater..
that being said, any recommendations on the repairs for the newer watches? hmm.gif

Does anyone have any comments about nomad watch straps? Thinking of getting 2, the croc butterfly clasp one and the horween leather
*
I've bought several items from them..
two leather straps and one jubilee bracelet.. so far the items I've bought are good qualities..
didn't really like the jubilee one, but I think that's more to my own preference rather than Nomad's quality.. hmm.gif

Disposable as in it cannot be serviced and is sealed into the watch case. The movement is welded together with rivets instead of screws.
*
well this is new information for me..
thanks for that.. sweat.gif

anyone has a recommended shop to browse and buy watch straps?
I previously bought mine on Nomad Watchworks, but the quality doesn't seem to justify the price anymore.. hmm.gif
