guys, was thinking of delivering a watch from Uk back to KL. What's the Tax and duties like?
I was wondering if it's better to ship it to Singapore instead?

if ship to singapore you need to pay gst 7%

QUOTE(Chinoz @ Mar 7 2021, 12:37 PM)
Is that all? Is there GST imposed on Malaysia's import as well? I presume there's no import tax to Singapore?

I was wondering if it's worth the savings to send a watch back and collect it later. I don't want to be hit by hidden tax.
Has anyone had any experiences so far?

From past experience, watches coming into MY incur an excise duty of 5%. However, customs can be rather annoying in this regard. The officer can incur additional tax brackets onto the item as they see fit (claiming the item is for spare parts or some other taxable category). Another tactic I noticed is calculating the excise duty with higher currencies (purchased an item from EU in USD  but got charged a flat tax in CHF rather than the actual USD value. Courier - in this case Fedex - paid in advance without negotiating, and we would have to foot the bill). If u can choose to collect item for urself, u have the opportunity to negotiate i.e. sweet talk for a lower charge - these fees r mostly at the discretion of the officer). Ultimately though, the sums involved were not a significant percentage of the overall delivery. Just things to be aware of.

Having said all that, I'm actually not sure if this is entirely relevant since yours is a non-commercial delivery - the item belongs to u and ur merely delivering it rather than selling it right?
*
Thanks for the insight. it looks like the charges would vary I guess when it arrives in Malaysia.
I was thinking of purchasing another Vacheron from the boutique and have them ship to Malaysia when I head back for holidays (when the pandemic is under control.. when is the question)
I don't know if it's worth the extra savings and if the officers would want to charge more due to the value of the watch. The watch is in excess of over RM130k. Reckon that would be an issue?

There is a small possibility that they might get greedy la looking at a figure like that - their work performance is quota driven, similar to traffic officers. Otherwise, if all goes smoothly it should be costing u roughly 7.5k or so (pending shipping and insurance ).

This is another thought. If its possible, why not have them send it over to the next closest boutique or AD maybe, and u can collect it from there? Ur a valued customer, give them some kinda justification and see if they'd be able to accommodate.
*
That's the thing that irks me. Also there's no boutiques in KL I believe.

It's just an idea to see if it's even worth the trouble. But appreciate your thoughts.

problem is u can't under declare , due to the insurance you are paying for it

so the 5% is unavoidable, n that is the bare minimum tax u need to pay

if u send to SG its straight away 7%
*
Very true, but I guess it's also less hassle in Singapore? I presume 7% is all I pay? or are there other hidden taxes/charges I'm not aware of?

Hi guys. I'm looking for the VC overseas. Was wondering if anyone here can hook me up with a sales rep who is willing to help me out.

I went to cortina, but they were like giving me "fuck off face".

Were you looking for the blue dial Overseas? it's boutique only now.

I guess the best bet is to go directly to one in Singapore?

the Overseas does wear a bit bigger due to the integrated bracelet. It flares out too much on my small slim wrist. I've tried it on so many times and had to give it a pass, and I've across the blue dial numerous times before all these crazes for one. But it's fantastic if you have a moderate to big wrist.

UK list has already closed and no longer accepting orders until maybe the orders has been fulfilled, most likely a 6 months opening. It's mad with all the sudden rush for a sports model.

Merry Christmas all!
Here are some gifts from the Vacheron boutique for the festive season biggrin.gif

A lovely basket from Fortnum & Mason which was a nice surprise by the VC team

A pair of grey handling gloves and leather watch pouch from VC HQ which was extremely nice of them. I wasn't expecting this to turn up at my doorstep.

and lastly a beautiful wooden loupe given by the boutique. Was told the ring is actual gold blink.gif

I couldn't ask of more from VC. They have been extremely thoughtful and generous.

And of course, I had nothing from Rolex lol rolleyes.gif

They've been awesome. I probably have to buy an American 1921 off them someday lol
I really liked the smaller version in 36.5mm. Don't mind the strap but it's kind of growing on me.

Amazing Christmas pick up! Congratulations! I'm so glad Patek has updated the movement and modernised the Calatrava a bit more. I would have picked one up if I haven't had the Traditionnelle.

That's top notch customer service / after-sales service. How many VC's did you buy from them ?

Remembered someone here uploading a picture of Omega sending them a package too.

Should have bought my Omega from a Boutique lol

Anyway, does PP give out anything ?
*
I'm only into my 2nd VC although I'm eyeing the American 1921 as my third. It helps to buy from the boutique, no discounts though but you get pretty good service and goodies from them.

Happy New Year to you and your family bro, thanks for the reply. The American 1921 has a unique dial!

Agreed, i wasn't aware that boutiques used to send out gifts on special occassions etc, should have gotten my previous watch from a boutique. Just wondering though, if i happened to only buy 1 VC, would i still receive something from the boutique or would i need to be maintaining an X amount of purchases in a given time period to get these goodies ?

Have always been wondering about it.
*
I guess it depends on the boutique you're with, I know some that received gifts on their day of purchase, some none at all and even gifts are given to none VC owners. I presume they would entice you with gifts if they think you're interested in the maison or a potential customer.
I've not bought anything from the boutique for about 2 years now but maintain good contact with them. Occasionally they would send some seasonal gifts either from the boutique or Geneva HQ.

A box of CNY surprise from the VC boutique smile.gif

Upon opening the box, you're greeted with a CNY card and stacks of red packets stored under the flap.
The overall design is keeping to the current VC pop art theme. They are just too nice to give away lol.

Did anyone else receive any CNY freebies from their ADs/Boutiques?

Nice detailing on the back of packet where the flap cover resembles the strap

In general, many boutiques and ADs do not send out these CNY boxes to their customers; perhaps only the few top spenders. Here, I've only received and seen a few: Omega, PP, JLC, AP, Cortina, THG.

Chor 7 and I finally received my Seiji:

Congratulations on your Kurono! These aren't easy to by wub.gif It looks so good especially with the grey suede strap. Much better looking than the 5711 Tiffany imho.

Shame that ADs/Boutiques are so selective these days with their freebies. They should be using it to draw in new potential customers.

Mine’s a terrible photo, but the pattern reminds me of a GS I tried on recently.

Ah yes, it does have similar swirling effect. I wonder if the GS dial is stamped?

Here's a close up of the guilloche

Blue ones probably still tough without history, but black/silver should be doable.
They had a big price rise on 1/6 - I think most models are now below RRP since then. Maybe some blue ones still slightly above.

To think back I passed on the blue dial Overseas on dozen of occasions in the past. I still find it wears a bit big but then I have a small wrist.
