My watch gave way about a week ago, battery died. Just wondering, as a rule of thumb, how soon should I get the battery replaced before it leaked/corrode the parts?
*
Asap, because each battery corrodes differently. Or at least remove the battery first.

Really like it. Proper homage to the original one.

Might get it if the price falls.

How much is this now though ? The model name ?
*
Exactly as above. It's called The Q or just Timex Q.

The launch price will be usd179 ... I think give it time, will see the usual discounts given to it by the different retailers and I'll bargain hunt from there.

Back on wrist after a long absence. Will never get bored of the movement.

Any place to send it for servicing locally? Looks like it is using an in-house movement. I tend to avoid watches that do not have local authorized service centers.
*
Nope, back to Germany if there is a need to service.

Nomos uses their own in-house indeed.

That would be painfully expensive and slow. Plus, things may get lost in the mail and insurance will not pay out the full amount. If only they have a Service Center in Malaysia, I would buy one in a heartbeat.
*
Aye, but I can't let that dictate what we yearn for, else die go back to the same old same old, considering how limited the malaysian market are.

Hi bro,

I'm 29 this year and hitting 5 years working anniversary in Nov....

So any suggestions for a.daily work watch around 3-4k??

Thanks
*
Oris, Tissot, Longines is a decent lower mid tier Swiss entry.

Obviously you can get a higher end Seiko, but at 4k the choices tend to be a bit meh, JDM's, LE's or divers which doesn't lend itself to a work watch.

If you are keen on German, Junghans could be a possibility. Nomos is just slightly above your budget but that also is the entry level which to me is a bit more playful than classy.

You can also always look at microbrands, but of course they don't carry the brand recognition you might want.

Or go for the sapphire crystal version of Speedy? But hesalite is more desired because it's clearer and truer to the original moonwatch than sapphire right?
*
Stick with hesalite.

I will be getting my dress watch soon and I am considering either the Glashutte and JLC, both are around the same price in KL

Was wondering which will be a better buy? There's also a similar one with moon phase, is moon phase relevant?

Thanks

Thank you. Me too leaning towards JLC. I tried them both, JLC case is thinner compare to Glashutte, but I like the blue hands of Glashutte.  tongue.gif

Hey people..I just got my first mechanical watch from Orient. Just wanna ask, is it normal that when I move the watch, or lightly shake it, I feel like there's something moving inside the watch. I know it works on kinetic but that 'thing' feels a lot like a loose part moving around? It feels like a spring or some sort...Or it's just normal?
*
Yes, that's just the sound of it being wound up.

Unless it impacts the time or movement.

Hi. Budgeting to buy an Omega speedmaster. Any recommended authorised dealer/seller. Normally what is the discount factor from list price?

Or should I buy from grey market oversea?

Thanks
*
I can give you my AD fella and you can make the comparison.

Grey is definitely cheaper, but you forsake the warranty support and the buying experience. If you buying the speedy with that big ass box, you will also likely to incur higher shipping cost and tax.

If it's just watch alone cheaper.

Thanks guys for the input. Gosh, 6% is quite steep. Could’ve used that money to service a watch already lol
*
If you just want a Steinhart, gnomon have a physical shop is in SG. You can get it cheaper without shipping and can claim back the GST also.
