Well I've actually considered to continue saving to increase my budget to a higher like maybe 10k for better options. But then as my salary isn't really that high, wearing a 10k+ watch would be too much i guess? What would sifus suggest?
*
I say go for it. Really nobody will judge u at all. Especially those who dont know anything about watches...they won't know the cost of your watch. On the other hand ppl who know about watches wont bother with your salary and status. Believe i felt the same way as you just a year ago....when the most expensive watch i had was an oris...RM2999. I also felt paiseh to wear watches above 10k.

But now i have watches above that price..and frankly nobody give a shit wan la. Its all for syok sendiri only. Your watch need not reflect your current status, but instead, use it to inspire you to a higher place.

Think about it. 10k for a luxury item that you r proud of and will last you a very long time isnt much at all. Consider how much did u pay for your car? See what im saying?

That being said, you can consider buying pre own or vintage to stretch your money.

Any feedbacks on the Oris Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 in-house movement? Never owned an Oris watch before. Currently strapping G-Shock GravityMaster GPW-1000 and GulfMaster QWN-Q1000 with Quartz movements, but would love to try my first mechanical-movement watch. Oris has my attention due to its design. Feedbacks would be lovely! biggrin.gif

The propilot calibre 111 is an awesome watch in my opinion. Would jave bought it, but the size is way too big for me. Really like the design and the 10 day power reserve function. The calibre 111 is an inhouse movment and cannot be compared to other Oris watches, except for calibre 110 and calibre 112.

Im thinking of getting an Omega Seamaster watch for me and my wife for our 20th anniversary.

I dropped by the omega dealer in gurney plaza and they only offered 8℅ discount on the RRP.

I heard some shops in kl used to give up to 20℅ discount.

What are the best available discounts for Omega watches?

Thks

Which model of seamaster? Which sales person u spoke to? Maybe i can recommend. I bought 2 from them already.

QUOTE(pky @ Dec 29 2016, 09:42 AM)
Need some guidance. Am currently looking for my next watch, but would not like it to be an impulsive buy and regret it later as i notice that i tenod to choose something eye catching and  special, but the design just doesn't survice long.

As previous, Omega Devile Hour Vision has always been my target for first real watch, but I end up getting Omega AT James Bond LE 150M instead. It's a love at first sight for the AT, but the love just doesn't last long.

Now, am looking for my next watch, initial target would be the Omega AT GMT Good Planet, then there comes the impulse for a Rolex BLNR and Speedy Pro.

I'm actually looking for a sustainable watch in terms of design and popularity and would make me love the piece even more through time. In this case, should i stick back to the standard model like the Omega AT GMT, Rolex GMT or sub C etc.
*
If your budget already stretch to rolex then just get the rolex. Ull never be satisfied with an omega unless you plan to get a speedmaster pro.

And this is coming from an omega fan.

Btw, a new BLNR is priced at RM 39,000, and the SP openly admitted that it is inflated price due to high demand, take it or leave it. Isn't there a price control to prevent AD doing such thing?
*
They have price control to limit discounts though haha. No ceiling control. And yes rolex prices are inflated for their hot models.

If u scroll back some pages on this thread u will come across a 45k daytona now selling for 70k. Lol.

Edit: sorry, not in this thread, check out the rolex thread

Agreed with what you said. Bought my Submariner last month and the sales executive informed me that they aren't allowed to sell it below a certain price but could sell it at any price above the tag.

Was looking for a submariner with date and a few shops were quoting me RM33,500 and one of the dealers around KL quoted me RM36,800 and claimed that prices would be going up again within the next few weeks. Started bullshitting around that the demand is extremely high and Rolex sent a notice of wanting to increase their price within a month. It's now more than a month and they still haven't increased anything and that clearly shows that he was trying to bullshit and squeeze customers.

Told him that I was willing to do a full payment and he slashed the price to 35K immediately. Asked him how the hell he could suddenly provide me with a 5% discount and he claimed that would be the price that he offers to customers i they paid by cash. Told my parents to stop wasting their time and money and ill find another dealer.

I went back to the same dealer the next day and the staff that quoted me previously RM36,800 (RM35,000 by cash) wasn't there. Had another Sales Executive that served me and she quoted RM34,800 if i wished to pay by card.
Clearly shows that the dealers are over inflating the price.
End of the day, went to a different AD and bought a submariner.

Ok ive a confession to make.

Im starting to feel a little bit lazy to wind my speedmaster daily. The crown is a bit positioned too close to the crown guard and it sort of hurt the finger after winding for a whilem

i know i may have said i wanted another manual winding watch...but now im not so sure anymore.

anyone very experienced buying in London, or europe? any recommended retailers? cheaper than malaysia after VAT refund? specifically 10-25k watch, iwc / rolex/omega?
*
I was there in march. Nothing is cheaper than malaysia at that time. Atleast at all retail shops i browsed...i dunno if got any obscure secret shops. Heck even heathrow airport retail price higher than malaysia

Guys,

If i buy omega or rolex locally, how many percent can get for discount off retail published price?
*
Probably 12% maximum at Omega boutiques. Up to 20% possible outside.

Rolex was 5% last year i checked at the boutiques. Again u may be quoted differently outside.
