QUOTE(daniellife @ Jul 28 2016, 12:43 PM) Need advice here.. You need to have 4 years of CF experience to be certified as member in the first place. Not many place to choose from mainly banks or financial institutions. It has to be relevant such as CF, treasury, asset management, research, et al. If you already have at least 4 years of experience, should be ranging from RM75k to RM100k per annum.1) What is the salary for Malasyai if you get CFA certified in Malaysia? 2) What organization do you recommend to join? |

The RM75k to RM100k per annum is only the basic and does not include the big bonus and perks right? |

Well, it's also about getting into a company that values your CFA. Wouldn't even matter otherwise!

QUOTE(daniellife @ Jul 29 2016, 05:44 PM) wah..it don't earn alot.. LOL. This is far from the reality... but I guess you don't have an insight, hence you have to ask here.4 years CF experience ?? CF = ?? I thought pass the CFA L1-3 can earn more than 15k per month.. Let's not talk about 15k, 4 years corp fin experience with CFA charter might not even get you 10k. Assuming that your team is getting deals, maybe 10k a month if you include bonus? There's no reason for any company to pay you 5 digit pay just because you have a title. Ultimately, your contribution to the company determines your pay. |

Dude, if you think passing all CFA papers means you sure get a good and high pay job, you are dead wrong man. The qualification doesn't add much, if any at all. In the end, it's all about whether you can deliver and perform or not.
Maybe you should try and get Actuary professional paper. That 1 you really will see your value increase with every paper passed. |

QUOTE(daniellife @ Jul 28 2016, 12:43 PM) Need advice here.. The salary for CFA holders differs greatly according to the profession they are in. It is a definite door opener but as mentioned here, in the end it boils down to performance and not the piece of paper. 1) What is the salary for Malasyai if you get CFA certified in Malaysia? 2) What organization do you recommend to join? Aim to join the organization that is the market leader in your chosen line. As the saying goes, same shit different boat. May as well learn more and get better compensation while doing so. |

To gain CFA experience, one needs to be either in asset management field, research, corporate finance or M&A. There are others but those highlighted are the popular examples. As these are specialised fields, the employers treasure direct working experience over professional qualifications like CFA. Unlike other fields, financial institutions are not very keen on giving staffs ample time to “experiment and learn”. Follow the ranking of matrix below (my own view) if you are applying for an interview:
1) No experience & no CFA: <10% chance 2) No experience & CFA: <25% chance 3) Have experience but no CFA: between 50% and 75% 4) Have experience and have CFA: higher than 75% The CFA paper is just a professional cert; it doesn’t provide you any training or teaching you any skills unlike a Master or PHD. A CFA exam is just to certify your knowledge and experience. If you study CFA to get a new job (without the direct working experience), you will most probably get an entry level job. The difference is maybe you can apply to a more prestigious firm which may not be available to you earlier. Speaking of salary, most banks are based on “low salary + bonus arrangement”. So it’s easier to adopt US way of looking at annual remuneration compared to UK’s weekly/monthly wages. It also depends where you work. |
