no need to worry about the 3gb limitation(it is not being implemented).stability and connectivity is also good.the only thing that sux about maxis wired broadband is the customer service. try calling up and see.they don't even know what to do about package upgrades.
i went to the cs centre in ttdi to ask about upgrading my speed from 512mbs to 1mbs and the supervisor says i have to pay a penalty of rm83 per remaining months in contract on top of the higher monthly charges.i have to pay more just so i can pay more? is streamyx doing this aswell? the signup ppl told me when i first registered that if i wasn't satisfied with the speed then i could just call the hotline for a package upgrade without any issues.my advice is if u wanna signup make sure ur signing up for the right package.maxis has no time to limit your bandwith(they don't even have time to sync information between departments).if anyone has any information on package upgrades pls share here.thanks and mods, sorry if
i'm posting in the wrong thread.

Maxis wired free upgrades - from 256 to 512 & 1.0 to 2.0.

got the memo which hinted immediate and automatic effectiveness of the upgrade from Maxis yesterday. my speed has not been upgraded yet though. called Tech support and as usual they don't know anything about it ....

can anyone who has actually recieved the upgrade confirm/share the necessary procedure to activate the upgrade if there is any such procedure at all?

... p/s feel free to brag about your newly upgraded & uncapped download speed if you have rclxm9.gif

I actually got the printed memo in my mail yesterday from Maxis. Though I don't see anything about any upgrades or new packages on the website. The memo also mentions that existing maxis wired customers can get maxis wireless for RM58 a month vs the regular RM108 with waived activation fee. Of course... I wouldn't pay RM25 a month for maxis wireless...really bad experience there.

maybe it's closed in certain areas to make room for new applications in other areas. Then again... seeing as how unsynced the technical, sales and customer service departments are... who knows right? all we can do is speculate.

greetings all wired maxis users,

Can anyone list out alternative brand modem+router models that work as good as or better with maxis wired, than the provided Zyxel/Aztech ones. Specificallity as in hardware and firmware version would be great. Thanks.

Thanks ozak. Which belkin model in particular? planning to replace my aztech modem here. Belkin's lifetime warranty refers to it's product lifetime right? meaning if a certain model reaches its EOL (end of life); which roughly translates to about 1 to 3 years, or more...depending. Not our human lifetime as a lot of ppl mistake it for.

You can check here for available packages. Though I don't know how uptodate this information is.

Added on January 13, 2010, 12:23 pmpersonally, i think the Zyxel modem they provided was abit more stable than the Aztech one. Too bad it got zapped.

My Aztech works fine (or now) LOL
*
The problem with my Aztech (replaced twice) is the U/L speed is usually lower than what it's s'posed to be. D/L speed is fine though. This usually happens after I switch it off for awhile. Funny thing is; U/L speed does go back to normal after leaving it on for a long time. It's really hurting my ratios. sweat.gif

Hi Cloud. Actually i don't recommend that you upgrade to the latest utorrent straight away. Most good private sites like pretome actually don't allow latest versions of utorrent/and such untill they verify the client themselves. May want to refer to the site's allowed client list if available. BTW... i've got insider confirmation that UniFi/HSBB will have no capping...... maybe its time to relocate hmm.gif

Added on June 6, 2010, 5:19 pmbut maxis wired has no capping too. maybe the speed isn't enough for you?

2Mbps for RM88 vs 5Mbps/RM149 hmm.gif maybe should just wait for Maxis to upgrade.

Hey guys where is this Maxis Wired 2Mbps? I thought the fastest is 1Mbps for wired? Click here Did I miss something somewhere?

Lately my torrent has had inconsistent speeds. can go up to 167-200kbps then will go down to 2.0kbps, then go up again to 50.0kbps then 61.0kbps then go down again, and up... BASICALLY very inconsistent. Is this due to Maxis capping the download? Or some other reason?
*
Apply for the 1Mbps package and you may get a free upgrade to 2Mbps. Right now it's only available as a free upgrade. Capping? maybe... who knows... but my downloads hv been consistently consistent hmm.gif
