Hi! I'm considering switching to Maxis' wired broadband service since streamyx's wireless service, which I'm using now, is driving me up the wall with their frustrating technical support. (I couldn't connect to the Internet since last Tuesday, and despite making six phone calls and an email, no one on their end has come to offer a concrete solution as to what's wrong.)

Their current offer looks good: RM88 for their Home 1.0 Mbps package. It's much cheaper and faster than what I have for my current setup. I've also had a good experience with their dial-up service before they'd stopped providing it.

But what's stopping me from heading down to a Maxis centre just yet is the 3GB cap. Reading the posts above seem to suggest that it doesn't matter. I don't download much torrents (just sometimes), but the idea of a cap doesn't sit well with me. It's the constant wondering if I'd hit the limit.

So yes, is the cap a serious issue, and what's the worst that can happen if I do go past it?

(FYI, I'm a heavy surfer, and I tend to download archived files - for Sims - that range from 1MB to 30MB a lot.)

Also, what is the modem brand they'll provide, and will it work well with my existing router, which is a Linksys WRT54G?
