hi guys, i'm planning to get a AC-LR for mounting on my new house ground floor ceiling. Then i planning to use the free wifi router from Unifi (if any) to setup the same SSID on my first floor. Is it possible? Any issues for using different brand of APs?

QUOTE(pandera999 @ Sep 9 2018, 09:01 PM) LR provide much wide range coverage.. if i not mistaken (need to recheck) AC LR have 3x3 mimo on 2.4Gz compare 2x2 mimo on 2.4Gz in AP Mesh. its good to get AC LR if you plan indoor deployment. Thanks for quick response. I cant remember the term where the device connection is handover from one AP to another AP. Handshake?regarding on setting same SSID, i think dats fine.. maybe it works. Anyway, my concern is let say if i bring my phone from downstair to upstair, the connection will stuck to the downstair AP. How to ensure that the handover from one AP to another AP can be done smoothly? i know if both APs are the same brand, the connection will be seamless. What if it is different brand? |

Hi all,
Anyone is using ubiquiti product with tmnet issued router, tplink AC1200? Im planning to use UAP-AC-LR with the router but I heard there are issues with the vlan tagging with the ac1200. Any feedback? Thanks. |

QUOTE(MX510 @ Mar 24 2019, 03:34 PM) Just vlan tag at tp-link dial the router Thank you for the suggestion. UAP-AC-LR no need to do any vlan tagging unless u want a separate vlan for ur wifi network I suggest you dish the tplink ac1200 as main router replace it with mikrotik Set tplink ac1200 as ap along with UAP-AC-LR Which mikrotik would you recommend? Checkout sublime lazada page and there are too many models, cant even tell whats the difference. Im mainly using for home usage but need to use conference call regularly, ie: skype. |

QUOTE(MX510 @ Mar 25 2019, 09:02 AM) How many users will be using it ? Data load ? What is ur package do you subscribe for your fibre line? 2 Users, assume at least 10 devices connected at all time.Light data, just typical home usage, with streaming of videos and music. Occasional conference calls, this is crucial for me. will be using unifi 100mbps package. I have checked out a couple of routerboard, wondering if Gigabit ethernet is a must or i can live without it? Thanks : ) |

QUOTE(pandera999 @ Mar 25 2019, 12:03 PM) my pov..gigabit ethernet always give u advantages... especially streaming between 2 devices... not talking about internet backbone... Thank you for the feedback, however, isnt the ISP the bottleneck for conference call? gigabit would be helpful for transferring of data within the network right?because occasional conference calls... gigabit definetly help. me myself also occasional conference calls user.. i had experienced using just megabit tot gigabit is not necessary.. but hey.. im alone the user 🤣 Sorry, not really a IT geek |

QUOTE(wanttotree @ Mar 25 2019, 01:34 PM) I think the new hex will handle it no sweat. Its mikrotik, even their sub 1ghz single core can handle gigabit easy. Are you referring to this? Thanks.https://www.lazada.com.my/products/mikrotik...nrj5Ji&search=1 This post has been edited by lencent: Mar 25 2019, 01:52 PM |
