QUOTE(GumballAdventure @ Aug 6 2017, 06:44 PM) They also say the port is full. can ubiquiti networks give my house internet? Nah bro. I think you are confusing ISP and a network company. Ubiquity networks is NOT an ISP. They are selling devices that are used to connect to the Internet, and not providing any connection to the Internet, unlike an ISP, which provide the infrastructure to connect to the Internet. If your port is full, you will just have to wait until they upgrade the port and add more spaces unfortunately.

QUOTE(taqu @ Aug 19 2018, 02:11 PM) Guys, I'm planning to buy EdgeRouter X to replace my existing TP-Link C1200. Something like this: 1. The C1200 currently has to be put inside store room bcoz fibre endpoint & my in-wall LAN points are there, reducing Wifi strength downstairs. 2. Will the above setup work? 3. I want to at least be able to view traffic utilisation & connected devices. 4. Initially interested towards Mikrotik HEX router + Dude server, but tuned off by its Windows-95-feel GUI. 5. I read that EdgeRouter can use Ubiquiti's UNMS, which look similar to Unifi Controller software that I'm very impressed with. 6. Can I use UNMS to monitor my network with just EdgeRouter X? Thanks. If I were you, I would use the Ubiquiti UAP AC Pro as AP, and make it a full Ubiquiti system in your house, which you can manage in a central manner rather than using three separate routers that is converted to an AP.

QUOTE(taqu @ Aug 21 2018, 02:08 PM) Thanks wanttotree for the feedback. Ideally would like to do that, but USG is RM200 more expensive. I'd like to start at router level first. Hopefully the new UNMS will be more like Controller software. Fair enough, you have to see if it fits into what you want.

QUOTE(lencent @ Sep 9 2018, 09:08 PM) Thanks for quick response. I cant remember the term where the device connection is handover from one AP to another AP. Handshake? Anyway, my concern is let say if i bring my phone from downstair to upstair, the connection will stuck to the downstair AP. How to ensure that the handover from one AP to another AP can be done smoothly? i know if both APs are the same brand, the connection will be seamless. What if it is different brand? maybe in future will add a AC-Lite for upstair... Not handshake, you mean handoff. Anyway, it won't be stuck to downstairs AP. All the phone is smart enough to connect to the strongest wireless signal.

QUOTE(bryanyz @ Mar 30 2019, 12:02 PM) so is the edge router x + ap ac pro, a good combination? how about comparing unifi nano hd & ap ac pro, which is better? can i put the ap on the shelf? i cant mount it on the ceiling as I'm renting this place. my home is 1400sqf condo, the green color area is the current location that i put my router, if i put the ap at this same area. can the 5g cover the whole house? You would want to consider mesh wifi, if you can't utilize any Ethernet backhaul for your place.
