QUOTE(calvin @ Aug 1 2018, 05:17 PM) Some of the guy told me do this. if you have USG at both endCODE if you had one controller with multiple sites then it is easy to set up site to site vpn withough messing arround with dns or static ips with seperate controllers it is harder. but with them on the same controller the sites use the controller to locate the ip for the far end of the VPN |

sifu2 sekalian, one question, i'm in the midst of setting up a new network for my new home.
will tm unifi be able to work with this setup? or must use Edge Router? The reason i chose USG is because all the other products in the environment is from UniFi line.. and i read in the forums USG is more friendly in terms of the GUI. But i'm open to ideas, appreciate the input from experts here.. TM modem -> USG -> US-24-500W -> UAP-AC-LR / PRO |

QUOTE(ee7han @ Aug 15 2018, 04:38 PM) sifu2 sekalian, one question, i'm in the midst of setting up a new network for my new home. Yes sir u can setup pppoe through vlan on usg to work with tm unifi. Usg and edgerouter lite is basically the same hardware. Usg has gui interface running on a controller. Pretty and somewhat easy to figure out. Usg and erlite will perform exactly the same. Usg has prettier interface while having higher price. Erlite isnt as pretty hardware and software wise, but it too is easy to setup. A few clicks away through the built in wizard and u r up and running like a flash. Checkout my tutorial if u need some head start. Either one will be a great buy. Guys, I'm planning to buy EdgeRouter X to replace my existing TP-Link C1200. Something like this:
![]() 1. The C1200 currently has to be put inside store room bcoz fibre endpoint & my in-wall LAN points are there, reducing Wifi strength downstairs. 2. Will the above setup work? 3. I want to at least be able to view traffic utilisation & connected devices. 4. Initially interested towards Mikrotik HEX router + Dude server, but tuned off by its Windows-95-feel GUI. 5. I read that EdgeRouter can use Ubiquiti's UNMS, which look similar to Unifi Controller software that I'm very impressed with. 6. Can I use UNMS to monitor my network with just EdgeRouter X? Thanks. |

Then followed by descent ap(s). which is totally fine in your case![]() 1. Ideally would like to do that, but USG is RM200 more expensive. I'd like to start at router level first. Hopefully the new UNMS will be more like Controller software. |

hi guys, i'm planning to get a AC-LR for mounting on my new house ground floor ceiling. Then i planning to use the free wifi router from Unifi (if any) to setup the same SSID on my first floor. Is it possible? Any issues for using different brand of APs?
Also how is this compared to mesh APs? i have not research much on mesh but seeing hte price tag have put me away from them... Thanks for the advise |

LR provide much wide range coverage.. if i not mistaken (need to recheck) AC LR have 3x3 mimo on 2.4Gz compare 2x2 mimo on 2.4Gz in AP Mesh. its good to get AC LR if you plan indoor deployment. Also how is this compared to mesh APs? i have not research much on mesh but seeing hte price tag have put me away from them... Thanks for the advise regarding on setting same SSID, i think dats fine.. maybe it works. |
