don't know if it's applicable but here's my aunt's story.

she married this malay dude and they have 3 daughters.

my grandfather objected to it and was really angry at her. ever since she is married, my grandfather disowns her and she never steps foot into my grandfather's house.

reason is simple, malays are generally lazy (sorry lah but it's true, everyone knows) until today that dude is unemployed and only does part time job here and there. my aunt is still the main source of income.

i don't mean to offend anyone. i have friends who are dating malays. these malays are professionals.

I'm interested. Esp the tall, dark and good looking ones. Wouldn't mind dating or even marrying one if he is moderate in religious matters.

actually they like chinese guys that have good upkeep. saw a lot on twitter/instagram/facebook where the malay girls express their preference of 'cina hensem'.

some of the reasons being some can look like their korean idols, treat girls nicer, and are more ambitious in life...

actually if religion is not the issue, i don't mind aweks at all... they are less high maintenance and more submissive

general perception towards malay male are lazy and spend beyond their mean.

take a look at how many ppl selling their newly bought gadget at garage sales before Raya, reason: raya, balik kampong, etc

then there're someone I know spent 3-4k to acquire a DSLR, only to sell it the following month due to financial reason (bank called to settle credit card or something)

not to say all malay male are like this, but when the number are high, it paints a bad picture on the entire race.

Don't care if he can or cannot speak Mandarin, as I'm English speaking myself lol as long as we can communicate in simple Malay and English

generally, IMHO if it's not because of the religion, more amoi might consider malay guys. but then, because of the education background particularly sjkc, chances are slim to none.
