reply from CS when I complained I didn't get cash back for my petrol spending.

It appear on my statement as SHELL-KESAS HIGHWAYKLANG SELANGOR MY

And I have no trouble getting cash back from this station using my UOB card. It is stuff like this that makes me annoy with Hong Leong Bank. Like user know what is the backend setup of MCC code. In the end user is punished for not getting cash back because of incorrect MCC setup.

For uob1 u get cb for mcc 5541(counter) & 5542(pump), for HLwise only 5542

where exactly did you pay/use the HLB Wise card?

1) petrol kiosk/terminal?

2) service station?
*
Wave at petrol kiosk. It's ok I will be cancelling this card soon before annual fee charged in May.

Funny thing is I only always use at pump. Never once I walk to counter. Other banks usually will just credit back knowing it's not the user's fault wat. HLB is too stringent when it comes to this.

most banks already disclaimed their responsibility of mcc assignment by other banks.

hlb not stringent. it's stated in the t&c of which mcc is eligible.

if want to put a blame, then blame the shell station's kiosk terminal vendor/acquirer bank for assigning the wrong mcc. they will eventually get audited by card scheme and acquirer bank when they observed abnormal high transactions going through mcc 5541 (service station) by that outlet.

I just signed up for HLB Wise credit card and saw their Connect app front screen got a RM120 instant cashback for activating HLB e-wallet which I never heard before. Anyone got experienced getting it before or does it have a convulated way of getting that cashback?

just found out about this HL Wise card, i already got UOB One Classic.
I understand that Wise has higher cashback (but require to spend more) but the Online category is not limited to just spending but also ewallet top up?
Also groceries is not limited as compared to UOB..

What about annual fee waiver?

Online category is limited to selected merchants and ewallets only, not all online transactions. The selected ewallets are TNG wallet, Grabpay, ShopeePay and Lazada Wallet only.

Groceries category now extended to Pharmacy (eg Big, Guardian, Watsons) and 7eleven.

Petrol category is limited to Automatic Pump only.

Annual fee RM98 is strictly NOT waivable.

I just cancelled Wise. I don't think it's worth it with the RM98 annual fee. I rather hold two cards from UOB. Both the One Card. So I get RM15+RM10=RM25 cash back for each category. Cashback is higher too. 10% vs 8%.

What do I do with HLB? I'll just apply their card to milk the sign up reward. Cancel, rinse and repeat.

I can't find this info earlier.
Since my statement cycle is mid-month, I did a little test.

Payment made through Shell Asia app doesn't fall under Petrol categories.
It appears as Others in my statement.

Just do a normal DuitNow transfer to account. Instead of CASA, choose credit card account and key in your credit card number.

citibank migration -> uob = uob one mastercard

uob own application = uob one visa

Just for reference, for those who only use for ewallet top up and get RM15 every month:

RM15 x 12 - RM98 = RM82
Total annual spending = RM500 x 12 = RM6k

cb % = RM82/RM6k = 1.37%
still a good card unless you can get an unlimited cb cc which offer more than 1.37%

btw you might get over 1.37% if paying for extra dining/petrol/grocery if your limited cb dining/petrol/grocery cc finish monthly quota
