Crossover DIY, how to

im noob in audio system...now wanna DIY myself..
here my current setup
HU -> preamp -> woofer
i got 2 way passive crossover, but dunno how to DIY, on the crossover it got IN, TW, and WO. as far as i know..in is signal from my HU, TW maybe tweeter...andwhat for is WO?
i wanna do like this
HU ->Preamp -> 4 Channel amp -> tweeter,front/rear speker
where to put crossover?

wo = woofer
hu -> preamp -> 4 channel amp -> 2way xover -> tweet, woofer (front)
since ur 4 channel amp now will have 2 more channel free, u can use them direct to drive a rear pair which is normally a full range. get something like 6x9 is good for rear, but it is better to not have rear at all
