i still dont understand why proton insists on placing the signals on the left and the wipers on the right sad.gif

we are a right hand drive country so most of the time left hand is on the gear

The SA told me is bcos tuned by Lotus, so the signals is on the left...dun know how true is that...

After test drive the premium Persona...thinking of booking for the executive variant...
*
I think the sa just say what he thought was right on that one laugh.gif Why don't go for another test drive? Maybe it'll help you decide

QUOTE(darth5zaft @ Aug 28 2016, 08:48 PM)
driving manual?
*
Yup, and if I'm not mistaken most cars that I've driven have turn signals on the right

Test drive another variant? I asked...they dun have executive variant for test drive...

So u find that the persona is not up to the price tag?
*
i mean if you feel like one test drive isnt enough.

i feel the price is actually quite nice considering the closest b segment car is the more expensive standard almera which lacks features and safety equipments

QUOTE(sjneow @ Aug 31 2016, 09:43 AM)
Understand that Japanese is the weird one here, not the rest of the world's car manufacturer. the setup Proton used are Europe style, and most of Europes are right hand drive. US as a left hand drive country also uses the same position, even when their cars export to right hand drive countries, they just moved the steering wheel's positions without flipping the signal/wiper controls. Same thing when European cars exported to left hand drive countries, they won't flip the controls.

its my preference since i drive a manual so my left hand is usually on the gear lever. sad.gif

contacted proton care about the free 3 years parts here's what they have to say

not bad imo  thumbsup.gif

beltings are not covered unfortunately but unless travel a lot then shouldnt worry since need 120k before replacing

so the first 3 years should be okay

Will be going to test drive this car tomorrow after sending my son's iriz for service. Wonder what differences this car is compared to an Iriz, besides the bigger boot size..

I was told that they will need 2 weeks to deliver the car when they said there will be stocks at the end of August. My SA even bullshit me that there are 40k bookings. Kinda regret booking the Persona now especially when i need it urgently.
*
they probably didnt anticipate the good reception for the car

the sa is at fault as well for promising something he cannot guarantee. probably wants to increase his allowance by pushing as much cars as possible

QUOTE(burning @ Sep 11 2016, 12:40 PM)
Done Service 1K
Engine is much smooth. Since labour and engine oil are free. Upgraded to fully synthetic engine oil for RM85.

Pump RON97 and felt the engine power kick in.
Blast at 183kmj at Bukit Jalil to Putrajaya highway. Before, do survey no police from Bukit Jallil to putrajaya then Uturn and blast the car.

My experience.
1. 0 to 40. Steering feel light
2. 55 to 90. the steering different from light
3. 110kmj to 183kmj bit heavy. Believe the car setting. can anyone comfirm this

If you blast from 110 to 160. Engine felt kick in slow.
But when you stomp aggressive from 50 to 183kmj it does move on. I dont dare to exceed 183kmj but i'm sure Persona can reach more. (not racer or wanabe)

Noise engine
1.  below 90kmj quite.
2. about 110kmj (rpm about 2800rpm at 110kmj) engine can hear roar a bit.
3. about 183kmj about 5K rpm. Unfortunate Leg shaken. but cornering at 160kmj is stable.

I know the car can push more. Migrated from MyVi 1.3 (A) 2014. Cornering are stable at 160kmj. It does not wobbling side to side due to car heavy.
Pick up.. traction control does help. rpm gone up to down but tyre grip to move on.
Engine roar loud when you reach 4.5K rpm. So dont expect much there.

To end this. for driving below 110kmj rpm reach almost 3K rpm. Probably proton should rexduce it to 2.7 or 2.6K rpm. CVT ratio needed to change.
Stability. I have no issue. It beat Myvi clear cut.
Brake. it grip. But when the ABS kick in... you can hear the brake hammering. Not sure other car do the same.
Log record - Proton do download the car performance record. I guess i'm the guinea pig for their next action plan.
Body and engine rattling. I dont hear any. But cant expect much at 1K km car.
I'm not going to blast 180kmj anymore. Leg shaken, eyes open widely. Early 4 series age. youngster will able to beat that records anytime.

Enclosed the persona dashboard fuel economy record.

Hi All

just got myself the basic car. Standard trim manual gear.

looking for some options and hope to get some views:

1. where to find pedal lock? same as Iris's?? price and location to instal?
2. front fog light? is there wiring leading to the grill? meaning no need extra wirings and switches ??
3. a louder horn as the standard is just to polite.
thank you

also is it true the Eco drive is just an indicator and not much of a fuel saving technology??
*
1. didnt ask from your sa as gift? biggrin.gif
2&3. any modifications that involve wire cutting will end your warranty

eco indicator is just to tell you youre driving efficiently just like any car that has one brows.gif

hope you enjoy your new car
