It is another angry bird, bubble tea hype/fever, or whatever fever, you named it.
I find strange/interesting that modern internet age people tend to have some kind of "fever" one from time to time.
Even the laundry has plenty of pokemon to be caught, people won't go to there to wash their cloth when catching the pokemon...
But it may create opportunity for convenience shop nearby that people may buy some drinks or foods etc.
