QUOTE(cleaner @ Feb 13 2017, 07:49 AM) with proper maintenance i.e change engine oil follow schedule, timing chain will easily last more than 200k km Iinm last time i check, timing chain price for alza around rm900++ not including labour and related other stuff that need to change as well Thanks ya. Do you know which KL workshop able to do it? I never missed maintenance. It's start happening after a family trip to Genting. Might over revv too much.

QUOTE(Kiefer @ Feb 13 2017, 09:43 AM) 900..ok. With proper engine oil change and maintenance, the chain will last much longer. Signs of possible weared timing chain are: 1. Engine rattles when idle..even after service, plug change and coil checked. 2. Engine misfires. Yup, exactly what happen. Another indicator the rpm a bit low compare to before. With aircond around 900rpm and no aircond around 650rpm. And suddenly it will as low as possible until almost die during idling.

QUOTE(cleaner @ Feb 14 2017, 12:23 PM) agreed...check error code first...have to ask p2 to diagnose ecu Only P2 SC can check error code? Any outside workshop can do it? By the way so far no error signal light on appear at the meter cluster.

QUOTE(Kiefer @ Feb 15 2017, 09:35 AM) Only SC has it the scan for error code. Have you get the car to your normal mechanic shop to check first? Before suspecting the timing chain, low rpm can be also caused by: 1. spark plug(s) 2. spark plug coil 3. map sensor 4. injector? Hardly a timing chain be spoiled with over-rev as the engine has cut-off. Will consider to check the map sensor and injector. All spark plug new and coil verified in good condition. Yup, I have checked with my two mechanic that I use to go. Things that trigger the timing chain was loud rattling sound during idling and disappear after start to move or put some revv. Both confirm through hearing (using stethoscope and metal rode) the source of the rattling was from the timing chain. Rootcause still unknown. Might only the tensioner got issue or the plastic guide. But both do not have confident to do the job. Since need to open the cover might as well to change the whole set. I got feeling the chain already elongate due to the issue and the gear teeth might have wear off heavily.
