Hi. Looking for laptop with the following requirement and appreciate recommendation as to what to consider.

1. 14"
2. Large storage >500G. SSD too small. So Hybrid HDD would be preferable.
3. Great screen resolution to view photos
4. No gaming.
5. Budget 2 to 3 K.

Thanks

Thanks but I don't think that is suitable because I think that only comes with SSD. Need lots of space for lots of photos. So looking at one with Hybrid HDD. If out of 2K-3K budget, will get a HDD instead of SSD.

The HP is out because it too big and I wanted 14"

The Yoga and Asus looks promising. The X455LF have Hybrid HDD? How does it compares to AsusK401LB?

On the 1MDB and the 3.5 billion questions. 1MDB said they paid but Aabar said they haven't receive and this must be the money the US is talking about. Now going to arbitration

I don't understand. You mean you get a free EXTERNAL 500GB Hybrid HDD? Or is this 500GB built into the laptop?

The Yoga 500 looks interesting but not sure it have Hybrid HDD inside, especially the Yoga 500 -14ISK

no, It is not possible to use a 2.5-inch hard drive and a thin M.2-SSD simultaneously. biggrin.gif , the m.2 ssd already occupy the sata slot

the manufacturer usually don't put in hybrid due to simple cost reduction reason. it would be 1TB coupled with 4GB ram or 500GB coupled with 8GB that sells more; either it's a storage or a edit tool

there are other notebook manufacturers you can try and look into (no time to help out due to werk... cleaning up other's sh!t really takes WHOLE LOT OF TIME!!!), each with their own feats. the notebook manufacturer i know are as below:

Acer
Asus
Dell
Fujitsu
HP
Lenovo

notable expensive ones are:
MSI (dun try this, mostly for gaming)
Toshiba (focus heavily on mobility, high spec, and high price)
SONY (VAIO, expensive and not supported becuz they sold it off)

side note:

as for HDD, hybrid HDD would be faster overtime when the SSD part figures out which are the most cache... overall a well maintained 7200rpm HDD is at par with a hybrid with fragmented hybrid

but nothing beats SSD!!! they are the fastest... that is if they don't heat up, show you the blue screen of lurve and refuse to boot...

*sigh*

side-side note:

about the fund, not sure which Aabar they posted but...

*mods eyeing closely on noodlez post*

urgh... maybe next time...

thanks. But I notice several manufacturer list their storage as 1TB @ 5400rpm. If it's mechanical, would be very slow, wouldn't it?

Pure SSD wouldn't do. Got tons of photos to store.

that's also due to cost saving steps taken to reduce the assembly cost...

the few i had mentioned would fare a wee bit better inbterm of rpm, then again size is halved...
