You should try Android Auto, or Apple Car play. Both their maps also have step by step integration in the TFT speedometer screen. I've been using google now and apple siri, asking them to navigate me to the location i want. They are helpful, on the side note, siri responded faster than google now.

Izit? i'll confirm again with my GF's iphone, i tried siri for navigation as soon as i heard the voice navigation started, i stop navigating and resume spotify.

Yes my AA no such issue, and it is still working perfectly. I called, navigate, play songs using voice command. I purposely bought new nexus phone for this car. Previously i used xiao mi, but as u know xiao mi is for power user, there are many optimization and background processing which sort of obstruct the AA behavior and we can't do anything about it. I can't call, reply message, read messages in xiao mi, but i can do all these with nexus.

I read a lot of people problem in AA for civic, people having issue on other phone models, except nexus. I would conclude that always third party phone firmware software issue not google one.
