Spray directly to the switch without opening the door panel?

no need open, direct spray on top n try first. if really cannot is like what other member feedback, bang the door panel to hit the motor.

Cannot like that la  laugh.gif . I think just need to pry out the switch panel, not the whole door panel. Proper workshop will have that plastic tool for this not the flat screw driver  smile.gif

Truthy, yes electronic contact cleaner can direct spray on the switch panel. brows.gif My mechanic already did quite a few cars without issues.
After spray, swip and dry it for a while before using it back again.

Is that so? I thought the contact is hidden under plastic cover. Contact cleaner (mine) dries so fast like you don;t have time to even wipe it off laugh.gif

Well, I guess one has to spray it so much that it starts to 'flood' in. biggrin.gif

Service/repairs is based on a car's age or mileage.

Send it to the SC and they will do what is required for your five year old car. smile.gif

My final service date is over 5 years, so i intend to send outside for service. That's why i ask is it necessary to change the v belt and spark plugs since it's only 48k mileage

I recently did the 5 years (or 100k) service on my other SUV at the Service Centre. Actual mileage is 61K.

They change the alternator belt and set of spark plugs. smile.gif

nop, not necessary. You can reject their proposal. I change my v belt and spark plugs outside, save even more money.

V-Belt itself is cheap, you no need to buy original as Subaru also ask other belt manufacturer to do for them and print their logo on it.

RM 300+ for the belt and 400+ for the set of spark plugs. These are Service Centre prices. I guess if I amortize this cost over five years it is not high.

There are also other items because this 5 years (or 100k) service is a major service. Total bill add up to RM 1.3k.

Sent to a reputable mechanic to check and ask for his advice.
We cant see or check on your car either by typing here, is all depends on the previous ownership if he/she really did the maintenance well.

Boxer sometimes got worn out piston rings on high millage cars or hard driven ones. Those engines eat oil n is a time bomb. Changing it might cost a bomb. Hard driven ones can also have gearbox issues. Listen carefully if it sounds rough. Also when test drive the car, do a U-turn n listen for any drive shaft sounds. It will sound like tak tak tak... Another thing is to check the rear diff. Sometimes but rare it can leak oil. Check for any obvious oil stains.
