Mine full tank (50L) can only get between 350-400km only. My 1st service at MI PJ two weeks ago, they were using Castrol Professional Edge 5w40, but in the bill stated Shell 5w30....

XV is using Shell 5W-30, while forester is using Shell 5W-40. I think maybe due to better pricing they switch to Shell compare to castrol.. Anyway try not to rev. hard the engine too much and check the engine oil level, as got XV case 5W-30 oil after change very fast deplete or burn off..

If you compare the forester 2.0i (118k with 3 years free service) and 2.0ip (145k with 5 years free service), minus the additional 2 year service worth roughly 4k... there will different of 23k, these 23k can be fund for servicing your forester many more years...of course trade off with those advance features-lah. Think LESS is MORE... less feature, less problem of fixing advance features in the future. I hardly uses the auto-cruise and paddle shift in mine xv, I don't mind without them and get more safety features

I've settled with mine xv with only free labour service for 5 years, need to pay the parts (about 8k for 5 years/100k km)...no choice lol, since I paid discounted price for the xv, about 30k cheaper than forester 2.0i, hope the car can last me more than 10 years hahaha...   

btw, personally, I think the forester 2.0i is a better buy, I will choose the forester 2.0i over the xv, if I can afford it.
Hmmm...sorry, a bit hard to compare the service charges in the overseas, bro! I was comparing the service charges between the AWD or 4WD available in Malaysia, btw, I think the X-trail 2.5 is a 4WD not FWD, must be something wrong with http://www.tceas.com site, maybe I am wrong 

If you take a look at Honda CR-V 2.4, it cost about RM10k to cover 1st 1,000km to 200,000km service (according to their site... https://www.honda.com.my/model/maintenance/crv?id=36 ) It is 50% cheaper than the Subaru --- btw, I am not comparing the spec/number of airbags/2,0vs2.4/resale value/safety...lah (if want to compare...the CR-V costs more than Forester upfront, hard to compare lol), just comparing service charges of these local available 2.0 to 2.5 AWD or 4WD-lah 

the usual MYR23x per 4 litre bottle. and they use shell helix ultra 5w-40. yes, my forester is still under warranty....will try to request for 5w-30 the next service. wanna see if there will be any temp increase with the different grade.

Good to hear I read that engine oil burns more than it should happens frequently in other countries. Im assuming possibly those assembled in japan or elsewhere.
For 2013 version, how long is your warranty? Premium or no?

i bought my XV May 2015, mainly drive by my wife to fetch kid. After using only 22k km i notice the wear on my disc break look serious. pls have a look at the photos, is the wears normal? tq

Got my forester 2 weeks ago and trying to make an appointment for the first service. Any suggestions as I'm up to 800km now and the first available slot for the PJ SC is 25th Oct? Tried calling Cheras but seems to be engaged, maybe no hunting line setup yet.

Is service at the Glenmarie branch good? Just first service so I think should be nothing much for them to do.

First experience when it comes to getting an appointment is a pretty "meh" experience.

did my alignment again that uses some old school mechanical alignment jig/tool.  the results is fantastic. no more pulling to the lef. i feel the tire noise seems like reduced & FC also seems to improve. the FC ref is pump full tank & on to highway usually drop 2 bars b4 reaching my destination but today still at 1 bar less. my left shoulder also less tired.

I've tried looking at Racechip website but can't seem to find anything for our WRX. The only one I found is COBB Accessport. But just my opinion the 1st mod you do is change to a GFB Mach2 BPV its much better than the stock BPV. You will get faster boost respond and more stable boost. Another thing is the stock clamps on the charged pipe have a check on them. Mine loosen overtime and the quality of the hose clamp is not really good and it eats into the hose and damage it. For this car the brakes is something you can upgrade 1st because I find it not really that grippy.

Check also the vac hose to the stock BPV. That came loose on me 1 time when I was boosting. If that hose came lose the symptom you get is jerky engine when you coming to a stop and the engine vibrates like it's on 3 cylinder only and you will notice your boost gauge showing less than 1 bar boost when you step on it.

Aftermarket parts for our WRX is mostly a lot from USA, Japan I mange to find some but in terms of choices US has more to offer. But since your car is new enjoy it as it is then only start to work on it. It's a really good car, my wife is enjoying it a lot. 

I'm using this akebono pads, but i dont think its very good as the brake fades badly during down hill from genting.. it's certainly enough for normal driving, but if you plan on doing spirited driving up and downhill or touge, then go for something better..

with current discounts for Subaru and impending Mazda price hike in 2017, I feel the Forester 2.0i-P is a really good buy, compared to CX-5 2.0 high-spec. The features are really good and the drive is great. Only downside would be a subjective matter - exterior and interior design, as well as the higher overall maintenance cost (offset by the 5 years free maintenance). Too bad, can't get approval from HM for now, else it'd be sitting in my driveway

Usually how you guys make judgement in changing brake pad? I'm not sure it's too earlier for a change or not but I notice the brake doesn't work so well anymore especially when I'm reversing at a slope & braking. I'm just worried it'll be too late to change just like my previous car when all of sudden braking became extremely rough, brake pad totally gone and it's grinding against the disc.

So any guideline to change brake pad? By visual inspection?
