Guys thoughts on subaru xv? Any problem? How is the car? Feel like buying
*
no problem so far, because no have high tech or complicated systems like LSD or DIT

even if no more warranty outside workshop also can fix most of the things except the AWD

however it is the most basic model of subaru, dont expect it to perform like a rally car hahaha

the XV is kinda underpowered with it's 2.0N.A, a very practical car for the price tag la, given malaysia road condition, extra ground clearance is definitely a good thing

also lately raining season, u will finally realize how important is the AWD that can tackle even snow and ice rclxm9.gif

Do you feel that it is worth the money? Why do you guys feel it is underpowered? Slow acceleration? No kick? Is it because of the cvt?
*
Not because of the cvt
Because wrx also with cvt and its hella fast
Because of the engine, they built this engine for fuel saving so the power and torque isnt that high
Worth for the money for sure, same price u can only get hrv which is a front wheel drive, comfort focused cuv, the cx3 is also front wheel drive, much more expensive also

The subaru xv is a very balance cuv, like a tiny brother of the forester that can go anywhere anytime, rain, slight flood, grass, mud, beside the usual tarmac road

Summary:
Space and comfort- hrv
Stylish- cx3
Capability- xv

The stock halogen headlamps can improved. Planning to retrofit in a morimoto  mini h1 or mini d2s 4.0.

Anyone here that's performed this retrofit?
*
I fitted mine with depo, warm yellow instead of cool white, project far enough but not blinding at all even if stare at it directly
Notice anything above the guard rail is dark means the cut off is set good enough, not too high

Previous forester is using EJ25 engine and current is using FB20 engine.

Maintenance wise FB20 win due to timing chain and more simple to maintain compare to old EJ25 engine (timing belt).

Power EJ25 > FB20 (No need say coz cc bigger)

Fuel consumption FB20 > EJ25

Latest Forester got X-Mode.  brows.gif Old 1 only normal AWD.

Conclusion:

Go for new forester if want peace of mind and easy to the pocket for fuel & maintenance.

If want pure power or mod kaki, the old forester is a sleeper to start with..  brows.gif
*
i think the EJ25 forester should compare with FA20 forester XT

consider the FB20 forester as a lower range model previously not available laugh.gif

There are non turbo and turbo version of the old forester.

If compare to the turbo version is the FA20DIT engine in the XT. FA20DIT engine still score better for both maintenance & FC also compare to old forester EJ25 Turbo.

you can google the 3rd generation Forester (SH, 2008–2013)

Engine
2.0 L H4 (Japan)
2.0 L H4 turbo (Japan)
2.5 L 170 hp (130 kW) H4
2.5 L 224 hp (167 kW) turbo H4

2.0 L H4 turbodiesel

2.5L 263HP (S-edition)
*
malaysia got so many model meh

i think previously only available with EJ25 single variant, then only FA20 single variant

so EJ25 only can compare with FA20, which FA20 win of course la because it was supposed to be successor

the FB20 this year only out one

but i am still surprised to find out that the outback is still with the old engine urrrrgghhhh

Hello 2016 XV owners.

Lately notice there is some water residue within DRL. Is this normal?

It is rather obvious, but just got the car last week. image borrow from carlist

a quick question, do you get a kind of whining noise when decelerating? is this a feature of boxer type engine? just wondering it is normal or should i seek warranty. thanks in advance
*
It is a 'feature' of cvt

My previous car all cvt so i know hahaha

Preve also like that, honda city also like that

Maybe the hrv improved over the city V

I had the 2015 city V for 3 months, the noise is lower than preve but unpleasant

Preve cvt whine is loud but somehow sounds good

For my xv i changed the exhaust 1 week after getting car so it masked the cvt whine already i cannot hear anything haahaha

Does it effect the warranty when u changed the exhaust?
Bolt on type or full system?
*
full system

custom unequal header + mid pipe + fujitsubo catback

if you change the catback only, they wont void your warranty

change full system, grey area, see how u argue la

the sound is priceless, my siggy there brows.gif

Nice.....how much for the full exhaust? Mind share the location of the workshop?
*
fujitsubo i straight order from japan, around RM2k

the extractor and middle piping i give some money to my company welder and ask them weld for me one, lol, then buy the o2 sensor defaulter and install only

you can also just walk in any custom exhaust shop and ask for the specs u want, they can weld for u

Hi , may I know how much you got the o2 sensor, just change mine and its quite pricey.
*
not o2 sensor, it's just a cylindrical metal to mount my original o2 sensor far away from the exhaust, so that it doesnt read the high CO2 NO and CO in the exhaust gas, also also reading low temperature

something like this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/O2-Oxygen-Sensor-B...=item1a1fa73a55

this only works for secondary o2 sensor tho (for monitoring exhaust gas), if you're talking about primary o2 sensor which monitors your engine performance, yeah that shit is expensive, and will mess with your throttle or fuel consumption a lot, better guy original la

Anyone know year-end-package for Forester 2.0i-P?

But i find that quite hard to find any 2nd hand around (in mudah), how is the 2nd hand market for Forester 2.0i/2.0i-P?

Thanks.
*
previously, forester was sold at 200k +, therefore very little people getting it, hence you cant see anyone selling it

somewhere around 2016, they launched the non-turbo forester, at less than 150k, that's when a lot of people buying it, but of course, you cant see anyone selling because no one would buy a car and sell after 4 months sweat.gif

so the 2nd hand market is, unknown

I see. No wonder I can't find any of it in 2nd hand field.  blush.gif
Test drove it last two weekend, feel impressed with the car.  thumbup.gif

Wondering should I get the Civic 1.5 TCP or this. But 1 thing for sure, I'm quite concern on CVT wear and tear between belt vs. chain.  rclxub.gif
*
wah u compare sedan with SUV biggrin.gif , 2 very diff car

but yeah subaru malaysia is really lacking a family C segment sedan, the only sedan they have are performance oriented doh.gif

i'm sure the Civic is a more fun car if you like to drive fast. but the Forester is better as a family car because safer and bulkier

of course original with good price tongue.gif

my next mod for my XV is surely the strut bar tower  console.gif  console.gif  console.gif
*
I think u can order the original sti flexible strut from motor image subaru, but sure the price will very steep, probably 3-5k region, as far as i know those people at crosstrek forum are paying usd$400-500 for one lol
We have official cusco distributor here in malaysia maybe u give them a call about cusco pricing
