4. Claim dead car battery

[INFO] our car original battery is cover under warranty for ONE time of FOC change from wet waterly battery to maintenance free battery while within 3 years or 60k millage . (Whichever come first)
* preferably to be change in bermaz sc, dealer might not entertain / change for you.
* must be original battery that come with your new ride.
Guys is this info still correct? I went to Bermaz Glenmarie and they said the warranty is 1 year or 20,000km for the battery. I'm already past that and don't feel like forking out RM700 for a battery because I don't use the i-stop at all.

To answer my own post, got the battery changed for free today. First battery change during warranty period is free. There is also another 1 year warranty on top of the new battery. Don't need appointment, just drive the car in and wait 1-2 hrs.

just sharing with you guys, last week 3 m3 owners joined a touge session with other gang, got FD2R, swift sport, FT-86, celica and satria neo

it was a fun drive to Kuala Klawang from Cheras driving through Titi town, curvy road all the way, the road is uneven and at some part of the road the tires cant grip properly causing uneven brake force due to uneven road, even though our m3 stock suspension handled it well but it is still dangerous, at higher speed i worry that i might crash to the hill

despite FD2R being almost 2 gen behind, swift and neo having lower CC and smaller engine, they are way faster than us and quicker through the corner, but that's obvious since their driving skills is way better than me and their car is heavily modded while mine is just stock, but on straight road we can easily pull away on the lower CC NA cars tongue.gif

at some part of the road i enter the turn with the wrong speed (too fast) and the rear tires lose grip, stability control kicks in and surprisingly it doesn't aggressively correct the course of the car, but instead it let the rear slide and gently adjust the car direction according to the direction i want, it happened in split second and the DSC really did a good job there thumbup.gif

Mazda3 is designed to be abit tail happy which is why it's such a fun car to drive. It will loose it's tail rather than understeer which is a good thing. The tail losing grip(up to a certain limit of course) can be corrected by the driver and you have a better feel where the car limit is.

FD2R/FT86 you wouldn't have a chance against these, the rest are fair game if they are stock. You getting destroyed in corners is mostly due them all being on manual tranny giving them more control, our skyactiv auto is decently fast in paddle mode but it's no where near a manual trans.

Any user changed their tyres following original size 215/45/18? Maybe we should make a list here since this is a odd sized tyre and is quite rare. I for one would like to stick to this size and not go wider, I like abit of side movement when cornering rather than absolute grip and the beauty of this cars handling is you get good feedback and can feel it's limit.

So I guess I'll start. Feel free to add other sizes too, I'll compile a list.

Tyre/Shop/Price/Buy Year

215/45/18

Toyo T1R - Tek Ming Sunway - RM540 (2015)
Goodyear F1D5 - Tek Ming Sunway - RM450 (2015)

225/45/18

About the ron95 vs 97 debate, apparently there are torque benefits to using higher ron as shown by mazda's latest presentation on their future engines which also shows the current skyactiv engine.

A question to all skyactiv owners, do you face a 1-2 second rattling sound (something like "tek tek tek") when lugging the engine around 1600-2000rpm range on a hot day?

Is this engine knocking or i need to get the timing chain tensioners and/or all the associated pulley system checked?
*
I have exactly the same problem. More likely to happen during hot day or after a spirited drive or going up a slight incline. Less likely to happen during the first drive in the morning. I think it's engine knocking, but 97 not solving the problem.

I complained to them during my service interval, they just say engine is dirty and sold me a bottle of mazda fuel cleaner. Seems to have reduced it abit, but not completely eliminated.

Which batch is your car btw? Mine was the earliest ones, March 2015. Booked before it was launched.

What petrol are you using by the way? For me, i pumped BHP RON95.

I got mine at nov'15, should be similar batch to yours. If i see the dash temperature 34C, then i prepare myself for that irritating rattling. Really didn't expect a car that is not even 5 years old to have this kind of issue. Wonder how will it affect the longevity of the car since our batch is 3 year instead of the new 5 year warranty.

Darn, need someone locally that can do data logging to double confirm. Will dump in a bottle of injector cleaner soon. Maybe will experiment with petron RON100 and dumping in octane additive.

Any other owners facing this?
Seeing the graph, seems pretty fitting to their company name, the torque increase will be noticeable for normal driving! The stock components are known to withstand almost double the power and torque numbers. Quite worth the money if they can let you test try to have an actual butt feel.

The main concern is, will this affect fuel consumption for the better or worse....and whether is it too aggressive that will cause engine knocking considering mine stock already experiencing possible knocking.
*
I'm on Shell 97 or BHP 97 usually, occasionally BHP 95.

After putting in the mazda fuel cleaner I have been on nothing but Caltex 97. Now on my 3rd full refuel the sound is less frequent and less audible when it happens. It's helping somewhat, but I'd like to have the sound gone altogether.

We get alot of torque at the 1500-2000rpm zone, so I guess timing is most advanced there hence the knock. Sometimes can hear it at 6000rpm when pushing hard, though this one is a single 'tick' vs the low rpm 'tick tick tick'.

My warranty only 6 months left, I hope nothing major breaks haha. It's not throwing warning lights so i think the computer still thinks the knocking is not at a dangerous level yet.

OR it might not be knocking at all and something else, do share if you have it figured.
